I can give Pikachu one positive point.
He seems to know how religiously important Masks are to a Luchador's character/career.
They DON'T ever take their mask off. At least not in public.

"Wings give you a massive advantage in combat"

Me: Has flashbacks to one of my player's tiefling, the absolute unit flying at breakneck speeds into a narrow hall, shattering his wings on the doorway before slamming into a wall.

Yep

"Some people rollplay just cause they were starved for attention as a child and desperately want an excuse to pretend to be a goblin while forcing their friends to watch. I'll give you three guesses which category I fall under" I only need one guess, you're pretending to be a dragon while we're watching, soooo...

The Party: "We're supposed to be a unit!"

Pikachu: "Suck my unit!"

How the flying BS should have gone down.

Pikachu: "I found this feat and rule in (obscure issue of Dragon Magazine) that lets me do this and added it after we talked."
DM: "Neat. However, since you didn't clear it with me before the session I'm sticking with what we originally discussed for your character and you can't use the feat until I have a chance to look it over first."

Just FYI - Complete Psionics wasn't 3.5. That was a 3.0 splatbook. The 3.5 version was Expanded Psionics. Also, EVERYTHING this guy did with psionics was breaking every rule in BOTH books. He knew what he was doing.

I will disagree with that there is a right way to play D&D. The right way is respecting the people around you, keeping in mind it's just a game, and remembering that it's cooperative not competitive.

Pikachu: spends 3 hours "building them correctly"
Me: spends 3 hours thinking of a cool name

I'll be honest, the three levels lower after death thing is very ugly to me. It's very clear when a person killed their character to make a better one, vs when they just die. Unless the op failed to clarify something, starting off with a lower level character that puts you at higher risk of dying again because the dice decided that you should roll a 1 on initiative and six kobolds should consequently roll nat 20s to hit you (true story) on your last character isn't fun.

Going to be honest the part that made me laugh out loud was when drake called himself our “humble”narrator.

This story is a reminder that no amount of system mastery can save you if you choose to play like a sociopathic moron.

This story left me completely speechless... and then I realized that there are three more failed characters to go.
I have no idea why the party took so long to get sick of him, but at least we got more shenanigans out of it.

13:19 The idea of a little Viking funeral warms my heart! I also believe that system is great to use, especially if it’s a first time campaign

Min-maxing does not exclude a person from enjoying the other elements of the game. Someone can enjoy min-maxing, roleplaying, socializing with friends, in-game and out-of-game comedy, and the immersion of D&D all at once. All min-maxing does is ensure your character's story is more likely to see its completion; it allows the DM to throw harder fights at you and your party, and roleplay opponents more realistically in combat, which adds to the immersion.

The players who give min-maxing a bad name are the ones who build strong characters, then proceed to brag about their characters out-of-character, or make their characters overbearingly arrogant. The ones who refuse to cooperate with the group, break immersion to brag, and either don't get any kind of entertainment out of seeing anyone else's character succeed or needing to optimize other peoples' characters for them.

Being a min-maxer is different from being a douchebag. You can be one without the other, although some people are both. Min-maxing doesn't make the DM's job more difficult - adding more of the same enemies to encounters and giving them longbows with silver-tipped arrows is easy to do, and they can throw in an opponent with Dispel Magic every now and then. That balances 99% of everything min-maxing players can do in 5e. It actually makes the DM's job easier when players min-max, because they don't have to worry about pulling punches and holding back every combat to make sure their players don't get one-shot and ground up to bits by a counter strategy. What makes DMing difficult is a douchebag player who ruins the fun for everyone by bossing them around, insulting them, and bragging.

Don't be that player, but don't be afraid to min-max either. Being a min-maxer is not mutually exclusive with being a good friend.

Edited for grammar.

8:48 the "You get one" rule is SO much like the DM running my games at my school right now. During one of the games, my character straight up dies, as in no possible way of saving her, but the DM looked at me and described in great detail how I woke up hovering in what looked like a bright, clouded sky, and a beautiful, slightly glowing entity greeted me, saying that I was the "most good" member of my party, and how "Everybody gets ONE." so I got sent back, woke up coughing and managed to get what seemed like a literal deus ex machina to save me.

I feel like I've gotta disagree with the general notion of "Min-Max" bad, because.. it isn't.

When you Min-Max, you're minimizing the traits your character concept does not need, and maximizing the traits that your character concept needs. This inherently gives your character strengths and weaknesses which can create opportunities to rely on your party for traits your character just doesn't have or can't cover as well.

Got a character who's great with social skills but sucks at combat? Congrats, you just Min-Maxed a character.

The problem is when ASSHOLES take this concept and attempts to either run the game, or plays their character in a way that is just disruptive to the rest of the party or the campaign at large.

Like we see here in this story.

Thinking min-maxing is bad because it somehow breaks the game: 😫
Knowing that optimizing your stats for your role in the party actually helps facilitate better roleplay: 😃

Me: omg drakes episodes are so short I wish he’d make long ones 😒

Drake: bitch slaps Dom with an hour video

I think I could feel part of Drakes soul leave him, when he had to read that insane screeching.

Bruh, I died laughing at all the times the name Pikachu fitted so well. Especially, the surprise Pikachu face. Apparently Drake is a psychic, who knew
