Hi Amy ! I don’t often comment on your videos but seeing your struggles with those midtones colors doesn’t surprise me much as your are a high contrast person (pale skin and very dark hair and eyes) which means you should suit more high intensity color (jewels tones like deep red) ... but that is what Hermes silk carrés are for : wear you most suited colors on your neck to bring life to your face if the colors of your outfits drag you down 😉

Etuope is a gorgeous shade! Too bad it didn’t work for you, but rehoming it to someone who loves it is such a great choice

I have the same issue with Etoupe. I dress it up with a pink or pale blue twilly to feminize it a bit. I bet van cleef malachite would look gorgeous on your skin tone. Your coloring is gorgeous. ✨

I love the new mini lindy bag - the tone mocha color is so pretty I found that the Lindy is much more practical relatable than Kelly

@mvatolentino 1 year ago

Completely get what you mean with undertones. My TPM in gold hardly gets used because of my skin tone and generally my outfits. Thanks for sharing with us 💜

Hi Amy, we have the same mini Lindy. But fortunately, It was my most grab and go in my collection even when I’m on travels.❤

Girl,
I understand 1000% where you are coming from. The gold color from Hermes has the same effect on me. I just cannot pull it off. All the damage like colors (chai, biscuit; etc) do not work with my complexion, especially when they are paired with gold.

I think your skin tone is beige ivory but I get your point. Never have liked etoupe which reminds me of the color of baby poop. It’s good you have offloaded that bag given the market really headed downward. Some resellers are offering just 4-5k for brand new mini Lindy. It’s also getting like that for qb. For excellent bags a lot of the reseller are offering retail price as the buy out.

Amy I have to agree color is everything. I have mine in gold with gold hw. I don’t use mine much because I’ll just grab my mini Kelly in same combination. If it was in black I think I’d use it more. Totally agree about etoupe. I don’t think it would work for me either. Thanks for sharing ❤️❤️❤️

I have the same problem as you as far as color theme neutral ish with some olive undertones its so complex ahahaha lol so even though I really wanted to get into the beiges, wearing certain beiges just looks awful on me. I look best in white, black, pastel pink, and light blue . that's pretty much it haha!

@msfrootti 1 year ago

I am olive skin tone and I don’t like the etoupe colour. But recently bought a Kelly belt in etoupe and wear it with my jeans and I love the combo.

I had a feeling that you weren't going to keep it, TFS ❤

Hi Amy, my friends and I got our color analysis done in Korea, and I think you’re a dark winter! Cool toned and high contrast, which might be why you gravitate towards black bags, which are also cool and high contrast.

My friend is also a dark winter with olive undertones, and she’s found the OliveMUA subreddit super helpful. Green is a mix of blue (cool) and yellow (warm), so there are both cool olives (e.g. Yoda) and warm olives (e.g. Shrek). You can definitely be fair-skinned, high contrast, and a (cool) olive!

Have you tried white gold or platinum jewelry? My friend prefers it over yellow gold after her color analysis, because the cool tone is harmonious with her dark winter color palette!

Have you done color analysis? I feel like that could be a fun video 💜💜

I have also learned this the expensive way that etoupe is not for me 😂 we live and learn

@Jo-Vic-Cay 1 year ago

I've got the exact same concern as you...
I let go of my Etoupe Kelly simply becoz it does not flatter my skintone at all

Interesting though.. my skin colour is similar to KatL .
I never thought your fairer tone will have the same concern.

I do bad with Etoupe/Gold and Grey tones.

It's not as if I like Black
But Black really does flatter me more than any other classic earthy tones😅

Thanks for this. I’ve been having the same misgivings about my ML1 etoupe PHW in swift. Brought it on a few vacations and used it a lot but something about the thickness of the fixed strap that always has to be tucked around the handles or where it sits on my curvy 5’2” frame or where it wears the most on the back corners really bugs me (esp on swift)

Thinking to replace with a slouchy banana bag from The Row for that casual, carefree, playground approved style. I do love etoupe so going to go for a similar hue.

@jesse0121 1 year ago

I am from hk, and I always wear black/grey / blue tops and found out etoupe doesn’t fit. It feels like it only goes perfectly with bright summer dresses. 😅

I once declined an Etoupe Birkin because I felt like the color resembled 💩 or as you say, “muddy” more. It was too brownish grey or a grey with too much brown undertone. It didn’t feel like a true grey or a grey/beige to me. It just looked like a Brown/Grey

I was surprised to not like it because so many people rave about Etoupe but when I had it on me, it just looked so 💩

People tell me I shouldn’t have declined it and that it would’ve been perfect, but the color just felt off to me. Glad to know I’m not the only one who feels Etoupe isn’t a nice color!
