Roses are red
Violets are blue
Wolololo
Now roses are too

there was a jewish priest, a muslim priest and an AoE priest and they were having a conversetion about Jesus

-"Jesus was a prophet of Allah" said the muslim
-"NO" yelled the jew "Jesus was a lying heretic!"
-AoE priest said "Wololo". Both agreed.

Man... this game man. Even the installation setup was a thing of art. Villagers would literally walk on screen and begin building a wonder as part of the installation progress info.

Back in the days when you could get FULL games in cereal boxes.

"Ever since this game I have been a devoted follower to the church of Wololo..." Spectacular humor.

I have faith in the Wololo. Do you?

Age of Empires...a great start.

And then came....Age of Empires II: The Age of Kings. One of THE best games of all time.

The priest's WOLOLO was always the scariest thing to hear in a death match when I was attacking the enemy bases! Especially when you couldn't figure out where it was coming from xD

My dad used to give me AOE ll to play without any opponents when I was little. I called it "the building game". I just kind of digged around and built stuff. Now I have the HD version on steam. So many memories...

Later 90's was such a good time to be a RTS player. Played the crap out of this back then. Age wise we were almost the same. I was 13 when this was out.

Still the greatest RTS franchise to this day.
Back when selling games wasn't just stealing from consumers pocket and shattering dreams!

My family still plays this game all the time with a LAN sever, so fun!

This whole game had like it's own flavor. Like sometimes you really feel like eating some chocolate, and in the same way you randomly feel like playing this game. It's music, those caped Legion soldiers, their repetitive yet iconic movements and voices, even just the farming. This is peak nostalgia.

Fun Fact: In Vietnam we have a large number of gamers playing AoE:RoR even today and every year we "Exchange Culture" with our best northern "Friends" China with "Love and Peace".

ahhh those were the days.... when game were released completed and in their full version from day 1

Still one of my favorite strategy games. Even after all this time I still remember "pepperonipizza"

I still come back to this game over and over because of 2 things: The time period it's based in, and the enjoyment of trying to beat the scenarios within the restrictions caused by the flaws not found in later AOE games.

lmao! Church of "wololo" omg that sound will forever stay with me.

I remember the demo that was included on the combat flight simulator disk... good times

WOLOLOOOOO
