Hidden beside the railway in the Yorkshire Dales is an enormous structure that seems completely out of place.
Its walls stretch for more than 100 metres, strange openings disappear deep into the interior, and traces of railways and machinery reveal that this was once a huge industrial operation.
But what was it built to do?
In this film, I explore the remains, uncover the story behind this remarkable site, and discover how limestone, railways and human labour transformed this quiet corner of North Yorkshire.
And eventually, we discover exactly what this enormous structure was built for.
