THANK YOU!
Ionian
Lydian #4
Mixolydian b7
Minor:
Dorian #6
Phrygian b2
Aeolian
Lociran b2+b5
C Ionian is relative to A aeolian, they are just C and Am
C Lydian is relative to A Dorian
C Mixolydian is relative to A Phrygian
If you exclude the locrian mode, all this theory is about adding two different āblackā notes to a C major scale.
1) Ionian (major scale); WWhWWWh.
4) Lydian, #4;
5) Mixolydian, b7;
- - -
2) Dorian, b3-b7;
6) Aolian, b3-b6-b7;
3) Phrygian, b2-b3-b6-b7;
- - -
7) Locrian, b2-b3-b5-b6-b7
- - - The first 3 (here) work over a major triad (1-3-5); the second 3 work over a minor triad (1-b3-5); and the last one, Locrian works over a diminished triad (1-b3-b5). - - - Play over a major, minor, or diminished triad. Play the 7 modes, all in the key of C and starting on a C note. Learn to hear the intervals, and MEMORIZE ALL 7 FORMULAS .
i was always a relative person.
