Ngl this arc is actually the most fascinating HH arc to me but I cannot deny that it's fucking sucks that ITS LITERALLY TAKING OVER 10 YEARS TO FINISH!!!
The most entertaining aspect of this arc for me is seeing Kurapika navigate through all the psychological warfare bullshit lol. And he does so amazingly, btw. Dude is an actual analytical genius, and has several different lines of thought while navigating fake passive-aggressive conversations with his opponents like it’s nothing.
It really makes you root for him. He is in the most underdog position possible, responsible for taking care of a goddamn baby that’s being targeted by the most elite and influential people out there.
All the while, his ultimate opponent is arguably the most dangerous of all these already insane princes.
Super thrilling arc, really cool to see how characters are constantly thinking one thing and saying another thing to each other for their own agendas. And Kurapika’s not the only smart one either. Nearly everybody here is an expert at psychological warfare. Even the maids and bodyguards are highly intelligent.
Funny thing is after all this fighting between like 8 factions there will be no one strong left alive to keep everyone else from dying once they reach the dark continent
This is the first time in manga that I just ignore half of the things going on and focus on the events I can actually manage to follow. I do not envy whoever must turn this into anime in the future.
One of the most fascinating thing about the arc is the amount of characters that actually have a role and that role effect the entire story its amazing that even the maids of 14th prince Wobble are holding one of the biggest secret and probably are the one using The silent majority and this is an actual theory, and also the guards of prince Halkenberge are so amusing the wy they talk and their role is just a peak arc
Funny how both Camilla AND her crew have abilities that rely on self-destructive behavior. I know the other crews mirror their Prince to some degree, but it's especially true for hers.
There's a video out there on the complexity of this arc stating that it is technically all previous arcs ib one. Symbolised in how it all started (in a whale) and with morena creating her own 'nen system' I think this arc is so meta that (god forbid we get to see the finishline) this will go down as one of the greatest pieces of fiction in terms of story, characterdepth and originality.
I used to think "Man it'd sure be great if Togashi could find a successor so he can just focus on writing"
With this mindset I failed to realise this odd brilliance in his work; one of which is his character designs, they all look like they belong in different series while, at the same time, do not look out of place in the world of Hunter x Hunter (some characters have a level of semirealistic detail while others look cartoony as hell, it's kind of like how those old Tintin comics put a really simplified cartoony fellas in a very detailed environment which makes the characters ironically stand out)
Another bit of brilliance is when Togashi chooses to go abstract with his artwork
something that's hard to balance sometimes with backgrounds that have a good amount of detail
Part of me wishes he could find a successor that can draw like him or better,(for the sake of hunter x hunter's release schedule) but, if that were to happen I'm sure all of us would feel like something would be lost
the real berserk ship treatment.
