[Giant Elmer»] "I guess I'll open up with a pair of Jacks."

I love this short, the scene of Daffy pleading Bugs to to help him, then thanking him with a kiss was fantastic!

True, a lot of these Bugs, Daffy & Elmer cartoons directed by Chuck Jones are classics. This one, Beanstalk Bunny is no exception. My favorite bit was when Bugs and Daffy get into a tumultuous debate over their identity. 9 out of 10 for sure.

I was thrilled when this finally became available on modern home media.

5:21 “predating the rabbit habit” 😂😂

This short is a great example of Bugs remaining calm under pressure, which contrasts well with Daffy being over-the-top. I've always felt like Chuck Jones understood this aspect of Bugs better than any other WB director!

Multiple fairy tales have someone named Jack.

"It's a lie! It's a lie! My name is, uh, Aloysius. His name is Jack! Jack Rabbit!"

Snuff is the reason people say "They snuffed it." When somebody dies. When people went to a a wake, the dead body used to smell bad, so you were advised to take a nose full of snuff.

I think this is one of the clear 10/10 all time classics. The only thing that keeps this out of my all time top 10 is the fact that Bugs yet again takes down a foe with an outstretched leg. But that's just a nitpick. Just love it

I had this on VHS when I was a kid. I would watch it all the time at my grandparents house. After we got rid of our VHS player, I never watched it again. I was surprised it wasn't on the Golden Collection sets, however a clip from it does appear on one of the special features.

The end of an era for Jones, and a great way to go out too. In this one we really get a glimpse of daffy’s more paranoia and hyperactive personality. This is actually my first time seeing this short and it makes a great first impression. Great gags, amazing line delivery, some of my favourites being “I guess I’ll open up with a pair of jacks” and “you could stand up for your rights you know” and that glass scene is one of the best pieces of animation I’ve ever seen. A fitting end to the Jones paring of bugs, daffy and Elmer. 10/10

This is a fun one. Always liked it. 'He's Jack!' The Disney version of this---the crosscut scene where Donald gets yanked into the beanstalk---I love that too.

“All right then. HE is Jack”.
“It’s a lie! It’s a lie! My name is, uh, Aloysius. His name is Jack! Jack Rabbit!”
“Oh, no. You’re Jack, alright”.
“I AM NOT! YOU’RE JACK!”
“You are Jack, and you know it because it is a fact”.
“I guess I’ll just have to open up with a pair of jacks!”

I'm not sure which one was produced or finished first, but I have the impression that Mike Maltese or Chuck Jones weren't very happy with the result of "Lumber Jack-Rabbit" and tried to make an improved version that resulted in this one. The previous one was actually good in its own way, but it's undeniable that the addition of Daffy and Elmer and the dynamic between them contributed to something more satisfying in terms of entertainment. Daffy steals the scene in this short for me, besides that beautiful piece of animation when he and Bugs are in the glass dome he also has some of the best lines including that hilarious ending with Daffy Dilly's "It's a living" routine.

I'll give this one a 9, it's truly a classic and I'm glad it was restored but I also think I prefer the installments of the Hunter Trilogy over this one.

I have an original theater show card (as pictured in your YouTube thumbnail) from Beanstalk Bunny, which was released a week of my birthday in February 1955.

This short's the reason why I got the Looney Tunes Collector's Choice: Volume 1 Blu-Ray in 2023. 😀

In fact, McKimson would only direct two shorts with Bugs and Daffy together, but neither of them featured Elmer. It's safe to say that he was quite nonconformist about the idea of pairing the characters.
