BBC veteran John Simpson says the TV licence fee “has had it”, warning that the corporation faces its worst-ever crisis and could disappear unless its funding is reformed. His comments have reignited the debate over how the BBC should pay its way.

Former BBC presenter and That’s Life! star Adrian Mills joins Kevin O’Sullivan to discuss whether the licence fee’s days are numbered.

Kevin takes aim at BBC executives described as earning “about 400 grand a year” and accuses the corporation’s bosses of being “addicted to the TV licence fee”. Mr Mills, who has repeatedly defended the BBC, acknowledges that things have to change as younger audiences turn to YouTube and Netflix.

Stop paying the TV TAX defund the BBC disgusting organisation.
If people have a licence there is a number on it , they could make you sign in with your licence NUMBER Simple solution. Why should everyone pay if they don't watch TV.

The BBC is autocracy to prove If you cannot leave an organization freely, often a major warning sign of a high-control group, a cult, or a coercive environment.

Make the BBC a subscription service, let's see how many people actually watch the BBC. I never watch the BBC, so I don't pay for a tv licence. On principle I hate everything that they stand for. I genuinely hope that the biassed corrupt BBC goes bust.

It's not just younger people who don't watch live TV. I'm in my 70s and I only watch YouTube, Netflix and prime. I don't have a TV license, I don't use BBC iPlayer and don't miss live TV, I stream what I want when I want. The BBC should be on subscription or show advertising, it's time for them to earn their own money.

Not fit for purpose - defund. Why should I pay them to produce propaganda biased towards their political agendas? Wasn't there talk of this government making it easier for consumers to terminate subscriptions? Suggest they start with the BBC Licence fee
