1 also has the most unique soundtrack. I love the metal soundtracks to 3 and 5 (even DmC). But 1 has a unique classical/gothic/metal hybrid that no subsequent game has done. Odds of them replicating that is minimal as well

Please Remake DMC2 though. We deserve Lucia in a game that isn't garbage.

I feel like they'll definitely make it play more like Dmc 5, though what I'm really worried about is the atmosphere. I really appreciate how different it is from the rest of the series, I wouldn't want it to lose that creepy and desolate feeling.

To think this whole series was from a prototype of RE 4...

DMC 3 will always be my favorite one because it was my first DMC game but going back and playing 1 really made me appricate how tightly designed it was.

P.S: Are you planning to review the DOOM The Dark Ages DLC? I think it solves many of the issues of the base game.

DMC 1 is definitely highlight PS2 games throughout gaming history.

Devil May Cry has become a comfort game that I play while waiting for other things. It's joined MGRR as a very pick up and play, almost score attack sort of game that I'll just see what cool things I can do. Very strange how attached I've become to it, but I will never complain.

The last thing I want is a dmc1 remake. It would be so backwards to get that as the next game when dmc5 was about moving to new things and away from that past. We even got an entire level dedicated to dmc1 in that game to move on from it.

If the next DMC game is a remake of 1 will just roll my eyes at it.

05:20 - say it louder for those in the back 🤝

It’s hard to really even imagine what a DMC1 remake would look like. It’s such a specific capsule of that era, the mix of action, horror, and the way the levels are laid out.

Damn man is alive

Funny enough some of these remakes are what made couple of my friends actually go out their way and play the originals. Buddy of mine played the og RE trilogy loved them then moved to Dino Crisis because of their similar play style

Surely something similar to this could be said about Metal Gear Solid 3 and its demake.

Although I bounced off DMC1 initially, I understand and appreciate it's design, especially for the era it was developed in.
Especially with the fixed camera angles you can feel the design heritage of an Resi 4 that never was.
Some time in the future I'll replay this game and finish it (underwater sections be damned lmao)

I remember having a similar thought when RE4 Remake was announced. The camera, the pacing, the gun feel the atmosphere; alot of what made that game special and stood out was how so many ideas and mechanics came from the original, how were they going to remake that?

And then the remake came out and as much as I love it, I still love the original as well. They have alot of similarities, but I fundamentally see them as two different games trying to do different things.

Maybe that's all we can expect if/when Capcom decides to remake DMC1. It will look and feel and play like DMC5, add new enemies and weapons and movement, same story beats but overall be a new different experience.

I want to be optimistic, I hope if/when it happens it will be a "two cakes" situation.

That's what I said about resident evil 4 and yet here we are .

Man I am gonna die of old age when that Yakuza 3 video comes out. 💀 It is gonna be so good.

I think most people just do not care if it's "not the same game". It's pretty clear from the way survival horror games are handled now that the average gamer would prefer we get the same over the shoulder shell with player and enemy reskins and the story of an old game ported to it than what that old game actually was. Gameplay systems should be seen as artistic choices but they are not.

If they are going to remake it, you just know they will make it to be as broadly appealing as possible. The point of remakes has always been to bring in a bigger audience, mostly tourists that only heard about what a classic that original game is supposed to be, but wouldn't play it because it's too outdated or irrelevant now.

They'll change the "you fill my Dark Soul with Liiiiight!" line and that will suck
