Most timeline videos put the films in order and read the plots out. This one follows the dates themselves and asks who wrote each of them down, because the record disagrees with itself in dozens of places and every disagreement tells you something about the person holding the pen.

Along the way: the page that writes the same year two different ways within eighteen lines of itself, the organisation that can date your business to the hour and cannot date its own founding to the decade, the two careful sources that put the first film two full years apart and never reconcile, the caption that was wrong enough to make a studio publish an official chronology, the five years that are five years and five months, the heist that made the archive invent universe names and admit in its own voice that it had invented them, the encyclopedia section on the timeline police headed simply Propaganda, and a week in a year no film has reached that is ruled more tightly than most of the past.

If you like falling asleep to somebody walking through a timeline out loud, subscribe, there is plenty more of this.

CAVEATS SPOKEN IN THE EPISODE, REPEATED HERE
The year of the first film is not settled. One careful source says 2008 and another says 2010, both show their working, and this episode does not pick between them.
The published timeline diagram distinguishes events on the main line from events off it by colour. The text version used here has no colour, so the placement of one film could not be determined and is left open.
The five-year gap after the Snap is empty on the published chart of films. The fan record underneath it is not completely empty, and the episode says so.
There are no verbatim quotations in this episode. No transcript layer exists for this franchise, so every scene is described rather than quoted.
