The Skoda Kodiaq is the brand's largest SUV and has hence proven popular with families since it first hit the market in 2017, since then it received a facelift & last year entered the MK2 model as reviewed.

Skoda features the iV PHEV model in the lineup, available across SE, SE L & Sportline variants. This plug-in hybrid is a FWD only model and also loses the additional 2 seats which the ICE variants get. Still, the Kodiaq is very practical with a HUGE 745L boot and plenty of rear legroom.

With an official WLTP EV-only range of up to 71-miles, the Kodiaq is pretty much class leading, far ahead of the 50 miles offered in the CR-V PHEV or the 36 miles from a KIA Sorento (Although that car is AWD, not offered on the Kodiaq PHEV variants) Making it perfect for company car drivers, or those who have a usual commute with some longer journeys. I managed to achieve 134MPG in hybrid mode, which was very impressive for a car of its size! This was a mixture of country roads, town & even motorway driving, where it felt smooth and comfortable.

How can such a young guy be such an informative driver on all these different cars. . Excellent. Stuff. The Kodiaq is currently in my top 5 , my car is due a change in October, however as things currently are you need to order some cars months & months in advance

Thank you for the thoughtful and thorough review. iV not available in Australia, just the 2 litre petrol. Top of the range Launch Edition is 35,000 euro and is fully equipped with no options left to choose from. The Kodiaq is the best driver’s car in the segment here. Sante Fe, Sorrento etc are boring to drive. All CX60, 70, 80 and 90 have not had the best reviews locally due to the firm suspension, transmission issues and general lack of refinement even after various updates.

@Carcode, many thanks for the informative video.

We are contemplating to go for Kodiaq L & K 1.5 PHEV in the UK. But we are a bit apprehensive as we intend to mainly use the car for long drives on the Motorway.
We are not sure if the car is good/powerful enough for long Motorway driving with all 5 passengers.

We usually do motorway driving (70 miles per hour speed) on the weekends, covering minimum 200 miles. We do city driving and school runs on weekdays. I would commute to the office twice a week, to and fro it is around 40 miles.
Not sure if 1.5TSI PHEV would be suitable for such an usage.

We are also considering Honda CRV PHEV.
Can we trust Skoda Kodiaq PHEV to be somewhat as reliable as Honda CRV PHEV.

Please offer some advise.

Quick questions.. when on the motorway whats the cut-off point then engine kicks off from EV to engine power mph... wouldnt it sup just as much fuel as a 1.5 tsi... the only advantage i see is from town and maybe country when you can take advantage of low speeds maximising the ev side of things...

But then when you take in to the fact of the extra weight from batteries and motors... wouldn't it just make more sense to just get the 1.5 tsi

Just picked up the Sportline. Very positive first impressions. Just need to suppress 50 years of muscle memory to reach for the gear stick when switching between drive/reverse/park.

I'd have one if it were fully spec'd for say £32k but I think I'll wait for the Leapmotor C16 (range extender) to arrive which has much more tech (rear 16" screen etc) and is selling for £17,400 in china so it should be early £30k's. Skoda you make nice cars but you've got to sort your pricing out.

Professional review? HA, HA, HA! You are wasting others' time! Always be honest, tell THE WHOLE truth (NOT PARTIALLY) ! For example, tell everybody that Skoda Kodiaq DOES NOT HAVE A 4X4 HYBRID PLUG-IN VERSION! The rest is bla ,bla, bla...And, besides, Kodiaq was doomed to failure since it entered the market (We owned two Skodas in the family since 1974, one of which was a real shit, Skoda S100L...The other, Octavia 1.9TDI was brilliant...But, again, about Kodiak (not "Kodiaq" as they wrongly baptized it...), it should have been 8...10 cm taller, 15...20 cm shorter, and should have been offered in a petrol hybrid plug-in five-seater configuration. If they had offered this configuration, it would have been the best off-roader SUV of the Czech marque...

Interesting your remark that red on a large vehicle makes it look big .
I looked at a Renault Symbioz in a standard no cost option red metallic and it looks huge but looking at the dimensions it's no bigger than some small SUVs
