The ancients realized that FPV drones are OP already 10,000 years ago.

This ship never really screams Atlantean WarShip for me, instead it gives off more like an auxiliary cruiser vibe, built up from a heavy-duty armed hauler,

Even though it's SG Atlantis, I would name it the Hammond in memory of Don S Davis. RIP

Old but pure gold of a warship design. Lanthian tech never gets old

just a note, the Asuran Aurora classes seemed to be less powerful as the ones that were encountered and made by the Ancients. it is likely that the Asurans stagnated, never advancing past where they were originally. meanwhile, the Ancients continued to improve and advance.

Dying for a masterreplicas model. Love this ship so much

i love a fans design of one looks like a battlestar and once you see the connection you can't unsee it i just wish we got to see a lantean/wraith war maybe in the new series

My Favorite Ship in the Series. She had so much potential.

1st time i witness the Aurora i started base most of my ship design using lantean tech and weapon

I never noticed the pulse cannons before. I assumed those were drones being launched

I’ve always loved the idea of discovering ancient lost ships. And the aurora was one of my favorites. It was 10k years old but still put up a fight.

The SGU guys were way ahead on Drone Warfare…

My head cannon is she has a massive coaxial beam cannon that shoots emerald bursts like the satellite weapon.

I would have liked to have see the SGA team try to 'salvage' some of the ones the Asurans had built
entirely volunteer teams(in space suits), with an interface laptop preprogrammed to drive each ship to a different point in or near that system's Oort cloud
each say 2 man team, beams to one of the Auroras, plugs in the laptop, hits run on a script, and beams out
sure, the hulls were likely wrecked by nanites being pulled through them, but if it works you can attempt to salvage any unused drones, other weapons(those pulse guns), any jumpers in said ship hangars, the engines, power systems, and maybe more(at this point they would need a hyperspace capable tug to make it easy, they need one to go grab the Tria anyway because leaving it in the void is a waste)

(ignoring that would break the plot of always be struggling) this goes back to another complaint about the SGC, their goals included 'acquire advanced technology', they should have been treating it like a TTRPG or MMORPG, if it's safe you loot the corpses, steal every staff weapon, wraith blaster, etc, you steal every Goa'uld cargo ship you can, if they are hostile and it isn't nailed down steal you it
Todd got that, he stole several ZPMs from the Asurans

and then, if you can salvage any by piecing hulls together or moving parts to other ones you acquire(like the Tria) some names "Legitimate Salvage"(I'd rename the Tria that one out of spite for her Captain) after you slap the hyperdrive of one of them in it
then because I am being silly, name them for ships taken in famous boarding actions or some of the more unique 'salvages' of warships
Serapis(she was the ship John Paul Jones took in the boarding action from the Bonhomme Richard) and give it to the French right after, give the British one right after we name it Zubian(the bow of the HMS Nubian and the stern of the HMS Zulu were destroyed, as they were both the same ship class, the British in WWI joined what was left of them together to make the Zubian), Cassin, Downes(Cassin and Downes were completely gutted in the attack on Pearl Harbor, but the machinery was mostly intact, so the US built new boats around it)
the French and British getting one each are because we kind of screw them over on BC-304s, both TV and books

Ronon Dex space suit scenes in the Aurora was played by a body double due to Jason Momoa’s deadlocks not fitting in the helmet

Thanks' Capt. Jack ,  you are a gentleman and scholar! Another great video, definitely getting excited for the new show and seeing  new ships, old ships, ANY Ships!

While I loved SG Atlantis, there are some issues I could never understand. 1st why couldn't they built a memory mainframe and download the entire Atlantis database and send it back to earth and 2nd after finding the nanite replicator maker why didn't they just create construction replicators to build more Aurora starships with both the ancient and Asgard shields and the Asgard beam weapons and transporters and 3rd during the battle of Asuria why didn't they just beam people with the ancient gene to take all those Aurora ships back to Atlantis and then earth after the replicators were forcibly removed, I mean they had like 5 minutes after they saw the replicators being pulled back to the planet which gave them enough time to atleast take 10 to 15 of those ships.

Why didn’t they put mini Stargates on all the ships. It would not take much work. They could connect to a safe location with preset permission. Not directly to Atlantis because that creates a security risk. If the ship were overrun, they could jump through the gate and destroy the ship.

Just a note, the Aurora model has 58 Pulse Cannons

As for their shields in the Battle of Asuras, the Expedition was able to pre plan for the attack and they likely modified some of their weapons to be more effective against the Asuran Auroras

Need to read the books. The Aurora class was a long range transport, manufacturing and space mining vessel. Build after the arrival of the ancients in Pegasus. The ship was self sufficient like a modern aircraft carrier. With Labs, living quarters, storage, machine workshops, processing plant, 4 hangers and hydro food bays. The Aurora mined asteroids to to manufacture and deploy stargates in orbit or on planets while exploring and surveying Pegasus. The ship would spend years in deep space. The onboard labs were used to spread the second generation of humans in Pegasus. Some were used to build colonies, mining outposts and science stations being an all purpose ship. Later when the second generation reach an evolutionary point the Lanteans used SG as a labour force. At this time some were coveted into bulk resource transports. Some have cryro pods for colony transport. When the wraith emerged and hostiles began  the ships were updated and retro fitted with faster FTL drives and basic pulse weapons. Only afew ships had a ZPM. Later in the war they were retro fitted again with drone weapons. In short the entire Aurora fleet was converted into warships due to the war. The Avenger, renamed Pride of the Genii are Lantean cruisers which are purpose built warships. Stargate Atlantis ep. Progeny and Lifeline the ships having a large cloaking device and drone platform to use hit and run tactics on hiveships.
