Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama addresses the 81st United Nations General Assembly, speaking about global inequality, African representation, reparatory justice, conflicts, climate change and the future of multilateralism.

Mahama calls for greater recognition of the historical legacy of the transatlantic slave trade and racialized enslavement, arguing that acknowledgement should be followed by meaningful structural reform. He also calls for permanent African representation on the UN Security Council and reform of the international financial system.

The Ghanaian president addresses the situation in Gaza, Ghana's support for a two-state solution, the conflict in Sudan, the war in Ukraine and wider questions surrounding international humanitarian law and civilian protection. He also calls for the lifting of the long-standing economic, commercial and financial embargo on Cuba.

On climate change, Mahama highlights the disproportionate impact of climate-related disasters on African countries and calls for predictable, non-debt-creating climate finance. He also discusses global health security, vaccine manufacturing, economic development, critical minerals and African industrialization.

Domestically, Mahama outlines Ghana's economic recovery, infrastructure plans, healthcare initiatives and development programs, while previewing Ghana's upcoming African Union chairmanship in January 2027.
