17:48 Another difference is that in the original, you lose money when running away from a fight, but in the remake, you don't. They really wanted players to have more money this time

I feel obligated to add that every single character - from partners to NPC’s - are so much more EXPRESSIVE :D it immerses me more and makes me feel happy for some reason

I like the friendly Koopa that smiled and waved at me when I first entered Petalburg.

I have one you didn't mention!

If you have the W Emblem equipped during the first Doopliss fight, Doopliss will actually wear the badge too once he takes your body. He'll literally be like Wario! The Gamecube version will just show Doopliss in his normal red Mario clothing.

Cool video btw! There are so many differences between both, I know there might be a handful you missed but you can always make a new version of this video (that will definitely be a lot of work) 😁

The flurrie paper on the wall to the warp room, the doors to the warp room and the newly placed giant yellow block to the room to the left of the warp room are there to prevent you from skipping Zess. T.

Another subtle difference is that the coins all go in one area whenever you win a battle, but in the game cube they go everywhere

There’s one thing you didn’t cover, and I imagine it’s because you were playing two versions at once, but the new one has just… just so much new music.

Not just remakes of the original soundtrack, but loads of brand new musical pieces! And also, even the remade tracks have been extended to have new sections added to them

That bedlam spam is peak comedy

9:37 No love for Lord Crump and Grodus interaction change? He salutes his boss formally in the new version opossed to just walking off in the original

Absolutely had a blast with the remake. Each character making their own little sounds when they speak was my favorite addition

Badges cost more in the remake which does help balance out the inflated economy.

I'm honestly surprised you DIDN'T mention the now required flight in chapter one against the koopa on the path that teaches you about the hammer attack.

Or the fact that the menu options for all the partner primers and black chest "curses" changed around, such that it's defaulted to confirm and exit rather than listen to them again.

I miss the little "eek" whenever you threw out a crowd member for trying to attack you

I played through the game in Italian, that version actually kept all the little hearts and stars in the dialogue! It's a little sad they aren't in the English version

You might have been having an issue with power bounce because they made it frame perfect after the 4th bounce to try and nerf it since it was busted in the original

Your problem with Power Bounce isn't just because of the slightly changed timing. They nerfed both it and Multibonk pretty heavily by making the fourth hit frame perfect. It at least gives the two Simplifier badges a reason to exist.

14:24 if that was my girlfriend she would have been genuinely pissed

I also noticed that in the remake you dont drop coins when u run from battle.

here's a comment to hopefully get this vid more views

interestingly in ch. 4. if you listened very carefully in the og when Doopliss transforms into Shadow Mario, you will very clearly hear a "Mario "whoa!"" surprise noise, which's not there in the remake, alongside a "Wawawawawa+Mario hp reaches 0 noise"
when Doopliss knocks him out in the original 🤔in the remake its all completely silent,
and Shadow Mario himself's completely silent too, whereas in the og he still had his voice/noises.

also another major diff is Doopliss in the Remake has 2 extra lines, 1 during the 1st forced encounter where he says "you aren't thinking about running are you?"(not present in the original, you only had the "NO RUNNING!" line+both sides taking 0 damage to go off of.)
and in the final fight vs him where he reacts to the 1st damage taken, he has a line for taking that 1st instance of damage, which the og doesn't have.

another neat difference is Doopliss actually has and uses a Life Shroom if and only if, you manage to one shot him in the final fight in ch 4. the remake before Vivian joins turn 2.
this's likely as a fail-safe to stop from skipping the Vivian cutscene, but a very neat detail.

the ch. 4 lore is also fixed in the remake, so Doopliss can hurt Mario in the forced encounters, but Mario can't hurt Doopliss,
while in the og both sides can't take damage-

The reason "loons" was changed to "bozos" is likely because "loon" is also a slang version of "lunatic" which has been used in media to vilify or dehumanize people with mental health issues, kinda like how some mental health issues get used as explanations for evil character's actions.
