All of the Skarsgaard children are a bizarre yet perfect blend of really attractive and really weird looking that absolutely nails the vibe the opening was going for.

I need an alternate universe where this was just a meet-cute for Tess and Keith and they work on that documentary together and live happily ever after 😭

AJ measuring the basement was some of the funniest shit I've seen in movies in YEARS. Freakin' hilarious.

I absolutely loved the smash-cut between Tess's horror and Justin Long out in a convertible. Thinking about it, it does feel very symbolic of everything his character represents. The horror of women's reality can't touch him. Until it does.

Truly one of the movies that I wish I could erase from my brain just to see it again for the first time. I had so much fun and it was an experience.

As a woman, I wouldve rather slept in a random hotel lobby than with a strange man. Even with a locked door, I'd be too afraid to rest

I felt so bad for The Mother. At the end, when Tess puts the gun to The Mother's head, and The Mother boops Tess' nose, I was thinking, "Awww man this stinks"

I have to assume Frank and his children survived in those tunnels from human meat and breast milk, which is a horrifying prospect to imagine.

The relationship that was developing between Keith and Tess was really kind of beautiful, the duvet scene was genius.  At that point, the movie could have turned out to be anything.

There's a scene in The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo where Lisbeth tells Mikael that the serial killer who kills women and the man who is a casual misogynist are the same. Mikael presses her on that, trying to get her to see that the degree is very different. But Lisbeth shakes her head and says, "No. They're the same. They're both men who hate women." I see that in AJ and Frank. They are the same; they are men who hate women. I think AJ, when he encounters Frank, has a brief moment where he internalizes that, and it leads to his breakdown. But it doesn't last. I think it was real in the moment, but someone who is so privileged, so entitled, so selfish, so used to seeing people as objects--it was going to take a whole lot more to make that realization stick.

Door opens , Bill Skarsgard.
Pattern recognition kicks in and you nope the hell out.

Barbarian, or The Experience of Women. There's something so compelling in that the actually decent/helpful guys here are the ones who set off alarms at the beginning of the movie but don't insist, the biggest "monster" who created the Mother never actually hurts Tess, and the guy who insists he's a nice guy is the one doing the most damage all around. That the Mother, a cursed creature created by a man, and supposedly the monster of the movie, is the only one to meaningfully offer her protection and compassion? Yes, please.

Please review weapons, I need to see your opinion on the scene where John Weapon says, "Maybe the real Weapons were the friends we made along the way,"

Thank you.

This channel is now my primary source of "I've been curious about movie, but I don't think I want to actually watch it, but I'll watch someone lovingly cover it"

Frank's name tag sayng Carlos cracks me up

The marketing for this movie needs to be studied. Well, not just the marketing, but the entire first act’s execution along with the marketing.

re: the movie not being on blue ray, all media should have some kind of physical version. companies are getting too comfortable with the idea of consumers not owning media they consume.

Richard Brake could play a character who is the living embodiment of virtue and goodness, and you'd still suspect he was a villain.

As a Swedish person it's always just been known that all the Skarsgård's are insanely talented (since the 90s) so whenever I hear Bill is in something I know it will be good

Last year in a screenwriting class, we spent 3 whole days of class studying the first ten or so minutes of this movie with a copy of the screenplay in front of us. It is so intriguing to see the little notes that explain the choices made by actors and the director
