Princess Kako, the second daughter of Prince Akishino, attended the National Urban Greening Festival held in Kyoto Prefecture.

Princess Kako has been visiting Kyoto since yesterday, the 6th.

Today, the 7th, she attended the commemorative ceremony of the National Urban Greening Festival and applauded those who contributed to greening projects.

[Princess Kako] "I think it is very meaningful that everyone cherishes, protects, and nurtures irreplaceable flowers and greenery."

After the ceremony, she viewed a garden created by local high school students that won an award in the National Landscape Design Competition.

After receiving an explanation from high school students, Princess Kako asked questions such as, "What factors do you prioritize when choosing flowers?" and offered words of encouragement, saying, "Please keep up the good work."

Afterward, Princess Kako participated in the commemorative planting of weeping cherry trees.

These cherry trees were cultivated from the "Gion Weeping Cherry Tree," a beloved tree in Maruyama Park in Gion, Kyoto. Princess Kako smiled and spoke kindly to the elementary school students, enjoying their conversation.

The seven weeping cherry trees planted on the 7th will be transplanted to various locations in Kameoka City, Nantan City, and Kyotamba Town.

Princess Kako then traveled to Nantan City and visited Sonobe Park, which is selected as one of "Kyoto's 200 Best Natural Sites."

[Princess Kako] "These are such beautiful autumn colors. I see they adjust the planting based on how tall they'll grow. That's how they get such a beautiful shape."

[High School Student] "It was my first time talking to Princess Kako, and I was nervous, but she was so friendly that I relaxed before I knew it. It was a wonderful experience."

Princess Kako, who interacted with local people with a smile, returned to Tokyo after two days surrounded by flowers and greenery.
