Ron Carter is the epitome of class, eloquence and talent. I was fortunate to see him a few years ago at the Village Vanguard .

What a guy. Not just a brilliant bassist, but a real gentleman

"It's an awesome responsibility to feel like these people have left me in charge of their history." Dr. Carter is a national treasure

Yes, Mr. Carter, they left you in charge of their history - and it couldn't be in better hands. Hats off to you, sir.

Ron Carter is a national treasure !

I'm speechless while I'm watching him.

Ron is on so many of my jazz albums! I have listened to him since I was a kid! I consider him the finest bass player ever!!!

at 89 ... ron carter is as eloquent and incisive and articulate as ever! class act! living legend!

We are privileged to hear Mr. Carter, a legend, a gentleman, a scholar, a teacher and a creator, talk about these legendary musicians. Thank you, Mr. Carter.

Ron is not only a living legend jazz bassist, but he's also one of the few living historians from that era!!! Even though Ron wasn't allowed to achieve his initial goal of becoming a symphonic bassist due to racism, his pivot into jazz has been a blessing to the world! It's a shame that jazz, an American art form, is more appreciated outside of America.

It is doubtful whether a photograph containing so much inspiration and talent has ever been taken

Ron is a living, grooving treasure. Thank you Maestro Carter, for the continuing legacy, mentoring, and sanity you provide so generously each and every day

This video of Ron Carter and the photos of the jazz greats is breathtaking.

Ron Carter… There will never be another!!!
Ron’s contribution to all the Albums and Artists who worked with Creed Taylor esp on CTI.  What’s amazing is how well he must have been as a wonderful human being. I bow to you Ron with love and deepest respect.
May God guide you and provide a long lasting life. Peace

We cannot say THANK YOU enough - all those lives dedicated to Jazz, to music, to the Black experience, and yet we all share the beauty that comes from it still.

Class and Grace and beauty.

I flew to NY to hear you and Bil Charlap at Birdland. Thanks for signing the apron I bought.  I wear whenever I'm making something special. Great show and it was a treat to talk to Bill after the set. I told him I had gone to listen to him 20 maybe 30 years ago at the Jazz Showcase in Chicago. And I was listening to you with Emmet Cohen just earlier today. Thanks for all you've given us.

Wow! If everyone inspired to be like Ron Carter this world wouldn't only be a better place, it would be an eutopia.

Ron Carter~ immense pride and respect from The Motor City....

Love This Hero. A Giant…Walking/Playing History 👍🏽❣️
