“All my life I’ve wanted to lead men into desperate battle, now I’m going to do it.”

George S Patton was even more right than most even imagine. His aggressive battle tactics and strategies made far more of a difference than he is given credit for.
In fact, George S Patton most likely won the war and saved hundreds of millions of lives that few give him credit for.
At the slow sloth pace of Montgomery and other lesser American generals and the failing health or Roosevelt, the window for the Nazis to develop Nukes and the V2 could have easily changed the outcome of the war. The lack of coordination with the Japanese and had the Allies not been as effective, Nazis could have been first with the nuclear bomb.

Scott’s performance was so faithful and historically accurate that I am tempted to call him George C. Patton.

My Father took me to see this movie when it premiered, a WWII veteran and his son, I'll never forget that night!❤

the binoculars. so, essentially, George S Patton was also in the movie in spirit. FANTASTIC General Patton !!!

A lot of soldiers survived the Battle of the Bulge as a result of Pattons leadership and doing what everyone at the time said was impossible.

The enemy respected Patton more than the allies did.

Patton was not a war zealot but a sage
knowing that peace can only be backed
up by a mighty military will.

When I first saw Patton in the movies The one thing that Stood out WAS that Speech that George C Scott made as Patton for a Moment You Thoight he was Patton speaking to us as Soldiers ! It was a Powerful Speech ! George C Scott was an Excellent Actor you believed that HE was actually that character he Played.
You don’t have Any real actors today that can Act half as good As Scott ! I’m glad they kept that speech otherwise it would’ve been just another War movie !

Ladislas Farago wrote a very good book, Patton Ordeal and Triumph. In it, he tells the story of Patton hoping onto a stalled tank to direct a traffic jam - just as it appears in the film. I still thought it might be folklore but I also read a book on Patton written by the driver of the tank he stood on. Sometimes truth is stranger than folklore.

The opening seen was perfect

Dad was in Patton's army and knew the General.,  After we saw the movie Dad complimented the film and said Scott was more Patton than Patton!

My grandfather served with Patton, from Normandy through Czech. He spoke little of the experience, slept poorly.

I own only ONE War movie And this IS IT!!!

The only problem I see here is Patton carried a .357 on his left and a .45 long single action on his right.  Most people, myself included, just assume he wore a matched set - he did own a matched set of .45s, but they weren't the pistols he wore.  It's minor, but there was a reason even for that and it might have added to who Patton was.

Still loved it

How is it that early they say scott gave zhe opening speech in one take and then later they say he did it 9 times and was cut together?

A couple times you refer to it as a two hour movie.  It actually ran for two hours and 50 minutes.

Yes ! One of the most Epic Films ever made!

Why was a photo of Jack Lemmon included in the montage of George C. Scott at the beginning of this film?
