New immigration figures have been released in Portugal — and some of them help to understand the magnitude of the changes happening in the country.
Today, almost 1 in 3 foreign residents in Portugal are Brazilian. There are 493,622 Brazilians among the 1,585,854 foreigners counted by AIMA at the end of 2025. Diário de Notícias
At the same time, 23,134 foreigners were notified to voluntarily leave the territory in 2025, compared to 444 the previous year. A growth of more than 50 times that raises an important question: how far does Portugal intend to toughen its immigration policy? RTP
And AIMA enters another moment of instability: Pedro Portugal Gaspar is leaving the presidency of the agency and the workers have scheduled a national strike for October 6th. What could this mean for those who have been waiting months for answers and documents? ECO
We will also talk about an important signal for the Brazilian economy. In July, there were 12,866 fewer foreigners contributing to Social Security than in the previous month, a monthly drop of R$ 27.3 million in contributions. Is Portugal already beginning to feel the financial impact of this reduction in the number of workers? Público
And also: Chega managed to pave the way for a parliamentary commission of inquiry into the actions of Luís Neves during his time as head of the Judiciary Police. What could this mean for the current Minister of Internal Administration and for the Government? RTP
In addition, it has been 338 days without the list of highly qualified professionals and, of course, there is a HATER MOMENT.
An Immigration News full of numbers, changes and questions that directly affect those who live or intend to live in Portugal.
