In 2011, Operation Dawn in the Gulf of Aden, which brought the Cheonghae Unit to prominence, was executed. During the vulnerable hours when the pirates were asleep, naval gunfire and helicopters were used to rapidly distract their attention. Meanwhile, an infiltration team composed of UDT members swiftly infiltrated the area using high-speed motorboats and brought the situation under control. The operation lasted a mere 4 hours and 58 minutes. All pirates were subdued, and the crew members aboard the Samho Jewelry were safely rescued. In a truly short period of time, they executed a sweep operation that astonished the world with its efficiency.

Recently, the Cheonghae Unit achieved another remarkable feat. They rescued local residents from secondary damage caused by the unrest in Yemen. Under the command of the Cheonghae Unit, an evacuation operation for Korean nationals in Yemen was carried out, successfully evacuating our citizens residing on Socotra Island. How do the 18th contingent of the Cheonghae Unit, who were in charge of the Yemen evacuation operation at the time, remember that operation?

An urgent situation where invading pirates threatened the crew; given only 4 hours, the Cheonghae Unit completed the sweep operation
