We purchased an Amazon flute for my daughter when she started band in 6th grade 2017. Fast forward to today 6 years later it finally gave out. We did maintenance on it after each marching season and it even took her to 1st chair district band. She named it Eleanor. So Eleanor is retired now.

As someone who hasn't played an instrument in over a decade, with no intentions of doing so really. I don't know how I came upon this video - but totally appreciate your fair and unbiased review on this cheap instrument. Lol.

the most important thing is no matter how cheap or expensive the flute is, as long as you are a pro you can play it very well lolll

I purchased a glory flute for my daughter when she first started playing the flute in fourth grade she’s now a junior in high school, and she’s been using the same glory flute. Today one of her bandmates dropped it and I have to replace it only because of the drop. It really was a great flute and all of her band teachers have always been shocked at the sound quality.

13:48 - It sounds kind of like an oboe.

16:40 - I can see where Katie Flute got her intro music now.

I don't think I've ever rewound a YouTube video so fast as when you said "$29,000" pro flute". That seriously caught me off guard 🤣

I’m impressed with the sound quality for such an inexpensive instrument. Of course his playing is impeccable and made the instrument sound great!

I very much enjoy your sarcasm in this review.... Intentional or not! lol.

I like the way you throw away the things not needed!

This is proof that mass production is the king of just about everything we buy and own. Now one can buy the best and most costly of anything, some things as with most things are over priced. I don't see with flutes how they need to be more than 1k for a good one. There is a jazz flute player in my area here in Detroit and she is amazing along with being a great sheet music reader of any style she said "I never pay more than $1700.00 for a flute even though I can afford to.

You Know, For a flute that's under $100, it actually sounds really nice!

I played years ago, and thinking of getting one. Was in a high school
band and used their instruments. A relative gave me one on loan, which I used for over a decade, but eventually wanted it back for another family member. I had the pads replaced and had an electric pickup
Which I included when I returned it to the owner. This flute in your video would be occasional instrument to take out to play. My wife likes to sing, so this would be a way to include myself in that interest.

Great review.

My daughter is doing so well that she is ready to move from a flute like that to an intermediate in 4 months playing it.. the problem is a intermediate flute is 20x more expensive than that one... so it will take some time for her to start her exams.

Indeed, when I hear the words ´glory´ and ´hole´ in the same phrase, it is hard to keep a straight face.

Pretty nice work here Lance! I've been thinking about buying an Amazon/Temu/AlilExpress flute due to the low range price of this instruments. I use to play piano and guitar at home with my kids, so after watching this video I've decided to buy a flute. I'll upload videos of my learning process. Thanks a lot.

@robynelliott5603 2 years ago

This is an amazing flute for the price and quality and of course you make it sound absolutely beautiful Lance.

I think these flutes are pretty important. With these, kids can figure out if they have the talent for the instrument.
For their second year, they can get a better instrument if they still like playing :-)

I got this flute as a gift for my 16th birthday because I've always mentioned that if I didn't play the violin, I would be a flautist. Then I got the flute as a gift and I've been kinda playing it ever since. I'm not a good flute player by ANY STRETCH OF THE IMAGINATION. With that said, I've been playing around with it for about 4 years with minimal practice — I'm really a violinist so I couldn't prioritize the flute when I'm not really a flutist, though I do want to get better with it. I will see how good I get with it and see if I do better with it, I'll think about spending some money on a real flute and maybe get an alto, tenor, and piccolo flute too because why not? It could help me out with music composing tasks so I can get an idea of how to write for woodwinds.
