Loving the video. You said galvanized fasteners? Not in cedar, which is very common in N America. Must use stainless or risk tannins eroding the fastener and making streaks/stains

I’m building a sauna in South Carolina but there’s one measurement that I can’t work out and need help with. All the available information says to build the foot bench 18 inches high and then the sitting bench 18 inches above that. HOWEVER, all available information ALSO says to get your feet above the stones and that’s where the problem arises because I look at the specs of sauna heaters and they are all approximately 30” tall. My 18” foot bench will have my feet below the stones.

that right here is all the proof you need that using venik (oak, birch etc whisk) is a totally Russian Banya thing. As its super awkward to use venik with all these benches in the way and also no need in those as you are able to increase temps against skin to a boiling level super easy with one wave of a venik!!!

Saunojen suunnittelussa ollaan menty vuosi vuodelta enemmän muoti edellä ja unohdettu perusasia LÖYLYN LAKI.
Kiuasvalmistajat ja saunojen suunnittelijat kilpailee kenellä on korkeampi kivikasa saunan nurkassa. Korkeilla verkkokiukailla yritetään kumota fysiikan lakia, hölmöläisten hommaa.
Päinvastoin mitä matalampi kiuas sen helpompi on tehdä LÖYLYNLAIN mukainen sauna, jossa lauteilla istuttaessa jalkalaude on kiukaan ylimpien kivien reilusti yläpuolella.
Noissa virityksissä mitä videolla nähdään saunojan jalat on kylmällä puolella. Jokainen voi todeta yksinkertaisella testillä. Lämpimässä saunassa lauteilla istuttaessa nosta toinen jalka istumalauteelle, eron huomaa välittömästi.
Toki korkeitakin kiukaita voi käyttää, samassa suhteessa on kuitenkin löylyhuoneen korkeutta nostettava niin että jalkalaude tulee kiukaan ylimpien kivien yläpuolelle.
LÖYLYN LAKIA on turha yrittää kumota millään viriyksillä, se on fysiikan laki.

This is a very informative video. Thanks, Veeti. Can you share the height (top and bottom) of the backrest above the seat level? I have just made my own sauna and got it mostly right! Backrests are next.
