I have been shooting for over 4 years and this is the first time I could understand what the circle of confusion means. Thanks, Mark!

Not only this video explains what the circle of confusion is, but it also clarifies how the aperture influences the DOF. Pretty much everybody knows that a large aperture results in a narrow depth of field, but without some help from even a simple graphic it's hard to understand why. I've watched this video years ago but sometimes it helps to go back to the basics. 👍👍👍

Mark for President! A vote for Wallace is a vote for a better world :D Well done, really!

Mark, I think you explained the "circle of confusion" better than anyone else I came across

This video helped me visualize how depth of field is dependent on aperture. In the several weeks I've been deep-diving into all of these subjects, I've stored a lot of trivia in my brain without a lot of understanding. When you started explaining about how red, green, and blue wavelengths are different and thus arrive differently at the focal plane, the words "chromatic aberration" immediately flashed in my head just seconds before you uttered the same words.

I don't know if anyone can explain it easier than Mark. Good info well done Mark..

Sheeesh... you've got a real gift for explanation. This is 4th video of yours that I'm watching and you're clearing up things I've tried to understand for years. I've taken classes. Watched numerous tutorials. It's NEVER been this straightforward. #Kudos

Most educational yet simplified explanation.Very nice!

I've missed you both.  Glad you're back in force.

She's amazingly beautiful!!

Oh Mark! All your tutorials and explanations are simply superb. Frankly, never even knew there was something called the circle of confusion. Fantastic, and thank you!

Thanks Mark, I appreciate your videos very much! I just finished a 3 month university Digital Photography Course and want to continue with my learning and also clear up anything that didn't make sense.  You're ability to make the complicated make sense in a simple way is awesome!

This video really helped me and it is from 10 years ago. 😊Thank you

Thank you for short and clear explanation. Finally i understood what "circle of confusion" means.

Great explanation of a complicated topic, always nice to see Lex in a segment.

though it hasn't been a long time since I've been shooting but your detailed videos are so well made and explained i find it easy to learn even the technical terms of photography thanks to you :)

Mark, you are THE best!!!

Everything, and I mean everything, about this video is just perfect. 😉

I LEARNED SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mark, you're the man to go to for reliable knowledge! When I saw the trailer in the beginning, I thought... uh-oh something isn't right because bokeh is about to be mixed into CoC. But you got it right by explaining CoC itself, then jumping onto the bokeh topic and how they relate. Again, great job man! Keep it all up!Only thing I can think of to add, is that the CoC greatly depends on the pixel size of the sensor. What "ray of light" fits into a single pixel appears sharp on the image.
