I don't quite feel comfortable believing this is true with the characters. However, it is genuinely heartfelt and what the doctor orders. Can anybody else deny they've been in? Clint's shoes sitting in the corner?
There were times I worked so hard and late getting dirty. I didn't have the energy to go home and cook anything and I'd eat out. You could feel the uneasiness from some of the clientele. Staff always asked how they could help and might even ask how I was doing. No matter how rough it was going I would say I am blessed, thank you so very much for asking, and how are you doing today? It always brought a warmer smile from the staff and sometimes people around me.
Hi Tom, well I had planned on asking if I could use Coca Cola but as I was listening you answered my questions because I don't care for Dr. Pepper either. Thank you.
Good story. The word handling needs work. Advice from a professional writer: (1) Use contractions. In modern English, eschewing contractions is awkward and distracting. (2) Match your vocabulary to the characters. Mr. Eastwood's assistant wouldn't offer the job of being the boss of the restaurant. She'd offer the job of being manager. (3) Keep practicing. You have the spark. Work on gaining the skill. Read books about writing. Read other writers. A lot. Best luck.
