Getting a notoriously level headed and respectful player like ohtani to get visibly frustrated with you, his teammate, is quite the accomplishment

You left out the part where Ohtani puts the comm on his arm and starts calling the pitches himself.

Being a grown man is to recognize when you need help

It's real easy. You're the backup catcher. You do exactly what you're told, especially when your counterpart on the mound is Ohtani.

Shohei's mindset is always simple: "Okay, if you can't do it, I'll do it myself. This isn't the time for me to be dealing with your ego."

"Be good teammate, is good." Pure facts.

thank you for how you ended this video. I thought the same thing when hearing the presser and I am happy that someone with a huge platform has a heart.

This is why elite level pitchers want the same catcher every time. You work with a guy and gel to the point that you don’t have miscues like this.

Ohtani is not only a highly competitive athlete but also shows great respect for other players. He also has the patience of a gentle big bear. If he ever shows that much frustration, it must be something you did wrong.

8:20 “I can’t ride those buses anymore in Oklahoma”

If Ohtani chucked the ball into the dugout, I’m still letting him challenge.

Imagine being a rookie backup catcher and telling an already first ballot hofer “nah you’re wrong”. Like even if Ohtani is wrong you aren’t experienced enough to make that call.

Ohtani took over the pitch comm after that.

Catcher not advocating for his pitcher is insane. Don’t care if he’s a rookie or a 12 year vet. If your pitcher is someone like Ohtani, you let him run the game and you go along with whatever he wants to do. Catcher should be the first one to fight for his pitcher.

I'm a Brewers fan.  small market guy.  But I absolutely love Ohtani.  The biggest reason besides him being unworldly at the sport?  He's not an A-hole!  (at least publicly)

If the nicest $700M dollar man is mad at you, then you’re doing something wrong

As someone who struggled with that mindset, it’s incredibly freeing letting go of that mentality. Great breakdown, great message. Thanks, Jomboy!

This shows that Dalton Rushing may be a professional baseball player, but he's still an amateur human being. If he's smart, he'd realize that he's got elite, future hall of famers around him with more knowledge and experience than him and he should listen and learn.

He needs to keep his opinion to himself and learn how to think and act before he finds himself out of a job. He's not going to have it better than this anywhere else.

It's also important to point out that Otani called the rest of the game.  He worn the pitch comm and told Rushing what he was going to throw.

@4:50 in the postgame they said two pitches were called, change up then fastball. Ohtani threw the later but Rush was going off his movement and expected a change up. He may be saying "last time" but it may also be "change up"
