I’m not a white person. I’m actually Bangladeshi American (shout out BD!!!). I think this convo is very interesting. I haven’t watch the full vid yet. I’m commenting as i go. But I think so far when it comes to white fans of Asian cultures, specifically East Asian cultures, it’s a very interesting watch. I’m South Asian, which means I’m Asian, but a lot of these white KPOP fans or Japan glazers will see my kind of Asian, South Asian and even South East Asian, as lesser than compared to East Asian, Japan Korea and China. Almost like they make their own hierarchy. (a lot of times these East Asian countries also follow this hierarchy but that’s besides the point) It feels like because white fans like these countries, these countries become honorary whites in a way, which is not good 😭.

Also whenever I think of white Kpop fans I can’t help but picture Oli London 💀

16:55 I actually do relate to this! I’m not white lmao I’m brown and I also used to think the govt was good. THAT WAS SOO embarrassing when i used to think politicians were nice to me. I just felt anger tbh. My turning point was Palestine. When the genocide started. My whole political views shifted entirely. I went from liberal to full on communist. That was when I did more reading and research to better my political stance. So when it came to things like Kpop and the racism from Koreans and white fans it just made me more angry 😭 like how are they so forgiving to their idol saying the n word or dressing up as stereotypical Indians.

It is disgusting. The anti-Black racism. Inside of these Kpop fandoms. How they treat BW. And teenage girls. All because we try. To hold idols accountable. We have educated them. A million times. We do have stronger morals. And some racial boundaries. Yet Kpop fans put all BW. Into the same box. It doesn't feel good. To experience racism. And bullying. From these Kpop fans. It doesn't feel good. To be constantly invalidated and gaslighted. It doesn't feel good. To be MOCKED. It doesn't feel good. To be called racial slurs. We are also being doxed heavily. Which silences our voices. It hurts. I hate Kpop.

18:10 its not necessarily they were blind. I think a lot of East Asian countries have their own version of racial supremacist thinking. They view race differently but also similarly to America. In Korea, they view South East Asian, South Asian, and anyone who is black as less than. They view dark as less than. They view our cultures as just aesthetics. So it isn’t that they’re ignorant. They just don’t see doing these things as a problem even if it’s morally wrong to us.

It is indeed racism. Towards Black Americans. And people. They use our psychological traumas. Against us. For money. And fame. Then they invalidate us. And gaslight us. Afterwards. It does cause psychological traumas. In Black American Kpop fans. It is a cycle. Of abuse. From almost the entire Kpop industry, their fans and idols.

I'm Autistic, too. Although people act like BW with Autism doesn't exist. I was born. With Autism. I have an official diagnosis. A lot of people bully me. And misunderstand me. They think it is fun. To mock me. As well. Also, I would consider myself straight.

20:10 parasocialism from white fans should also be something to be discussed. Parasocialism of any kind is terrible and exists in all types of people but I think specifically with white fans it can get very messy. For POC fans i feel as though it’s kinda easy to not get so attached when seeing the racism bc yeah we not gonna like when our fav idol says a slur 💀 or when they mock Indian people 😭 deadass it hurts LMAOO. But with white fans I think bc they aren’t the victim it’s easy for them to handwave and say “oh they grew and they were a minor when they said slurs pls forgive and STAN BTS” 😭 it’s kinda funny ngl. Almost like a Chris Brown fan who tries to forgive his domestic abuse LMAOOOOOOOO. Idol worship and parasocialism is crazyyy

I also wanna add that a lot of white KPOP fans who excuse Kpop idol’s behavior are also just infantilizing the idols. It’s really weird bc these idols ARE LIKE 30??!?! and these fans claim “they don’t have the time to read about racism or culture or whatever tf” and they also say “these idols don’t know about the genocide or anything” and yadda yadda……..THESE ARE ADULTS!!! East Asian people are not fucking stupid! They’re adults.

I think something you can do is put examples, like real life examples, of white people defending KPOP idols. Like tiktok comments or other videos of white fans defending their idols. I feel like these examples would validate your arguments. There is no shortage of it either 😭(i’m just saying this bc personally im a visual leraner but if you dont wanna do it its okay bc its your video and your freedom and your perfect ❤) But overall this video is really well done. I learned a lot. Again I’m not white I’m South Asian but I can still relate to this bc in the South Asian community we’re both victims and perpetrators of racism.

37:10 also I think maybe the reason why you thought he was gay is because a LOT and I MEAN A LOT of white gay men mimic black women and the way they talk. So because of that, a lot of men like Eddie from the podcast might be labeled as gay bc of the appropriation that white gay men have done.
