At just 18 years old, Asa Vermette is already one of the best downhill riders in mountain biking.
From growing up in Durango, Colorado, to dominating the Junior World Cup and making history at Red Bull Hardline, his rise has been anything but ordinary.
This video tells the full story of Asa Vermette — his breakthrough moments, his battles with Jackson Goldstone, and why in 2026 he’ll have a chance to beat world best riders like Goldstone and Loïc Bruni.
A new era of downhill is starting.

I have to say, I am really looking forward to next year's DH season. I'm usually pretty indifferent about watching DH but I predict that the rivalry between Asa and Jackson is going to be legendary.

Just so you know, jackson at the finals took a line at the birm that asa had taken in the qualifying run, but asa didn't take the same line and still lost only by around 2 secs. Jackson is a very flexible rider in my opinion and to see a new rival for him.... oh what a time to be alive! I am so happy that my favourite rider now has a rival that is as good of a rider as he is. Not to forget that jackie had crashed in the previous year and still managed to win. Man what a time to be alive!!

I got the pleasure to watch Asa ride at windrock, and he was ripping but also super smooth at the same time. The next years of downhill is going to be epic!
Cheers from Tennessee

Let's not forget about the Alran brothers. They were both Asa's biggest competitors last year and they're both jumping up to elite next year too. Also, Loic wil be back next year too. Unfortunately, I'm not so sure that he still has it in him to give it 100%. In an interview I saw, he seems to understand that he's the old guard and that this new generation of DHrs are just silly fast and possess skills that he simply doesn't have.

Next few years are going to be nuts with all these fast kids joining the elites. I have a feeling Goldstone will have to fight hard to stay ahead. I might even subscribe to WBD to watch the big show (with the sound off)..
