Thor putting himself out there against the king is admirable, humbling yourself consistently is a great thing to do for yourself mentally and Thor gets it.

I love how Gordon is a beast of a man at 225lbs lean, yet he still looks small in comparison to Thor.

That was humbling. Like this comment if you want me to learn more BJJ! I’ve rolled few times with my buddies before at my gym and once with Gunnar Nelson. So my experience is very little 😅

Imagine having so little ego that you step out of your world where you’re a god and into someone else’s as a complete new guy. Thor is truly a great man and I am humbled by him. A complete class act.

When a world champion says it should be forbidden for you to learn their art, then you know you are a genetic monster. Imagine a man like this become proficient in any martial arts! I love that Bjornsson is willing to attempt different sports! Incredible! I do, however, hope to see him return into strength related competitions soon. He has so much potential!

11:00 this is what Gordon sees when he takes his glasses off

I agree with Gordon Ryan, if Thor learns BJJ it will be scary asf, just imagine him being able to utilize all his strength in BJJ technique. AMAZING.

Gordon is the man, rolling with these two the day before a match is madness.

"you have a beautiful f-ing beard"
"you have a beautiful f-ing soul"
My heart XD

The fight at the end looked like two polar bears attempting to mate... ha ha just kidding. Please don't kill me.

@Janny890 3 years ago

Gordon Ryan is such a tank but looks like a normal guy next to Thor.

Thank you for posting this. A firefighter came on my podcast and shared about why this clip is important for people like him… he said a lot of the guys at his fire department don’t wanna get humbled because it’s a very macho environment… he hoped clips like this will help get more men into BJJ training because a lot of people look up to the Mountain as an example of masculinity.

It’s important to show that it’s ok to be humbled. It’s normal if you’re going martial arts :)

If Hafthor did learn some technique he'd be unstoppable. He would single handedly start a second Viking Age.

Mad respect for rolling with Gordon Ryan like this and being so receptive to the whole experience. It shines through that you were there to learn and explore something, which I think is important for everyone to be open to regardless of who they are. And the idea for this video is just fucking awesome. Would be wild if you did more grappling like others have said too.

@lonky23 3 years ago

If you can put 30% of your boxing effort into your jiu jiutsu, that would be really fun to watch.
Training once or twice a week, in 4 months you would be literally animal.
Same thing watching Shaquille O'Neal rolls.

gordon ryan was gassed though lmao

@Nirsterkur 3 years ago

This is indeed great exposure Hafthor! Your MO of trying new and different things by going out of your comfort zone is a great way to develop yourself as a human being...

03:29 That's just incredible right there. Being able to flip that monster of a man off you from, what, full side control, ain't it? Wow.

@Gndlf_TheOrange 3 years ago (edited)

The fact Gordon can flip Thor like that is incredible. Two legends appreciating eachother 👏

Edit: "Swept" being the term I'm looking for?😅 (not a BJJ expert)
