The idea of two guys eating hot sauce and then one of them trying to play a saxophone during is hilarious

This "game of sock of" is typical upstairs neighbour behaviour.

One day me and a friend went to our local Indian spot and told them "give us the most spicey sauce you have. What you eat at home " he came back 5 minutes later after freshly grinding and making the paste. He called it the "hell no sauce". Our heads were spinning as if we were drunk. We were sweating and I felt high. My sense heightened everything taste super good we were laughing at everything. Even after we washed away the sauce we felt relaxed and euphoric.

To prepare real wasabi, you need a specific tool to grate it into a paste. The spice level increases the more cell walls you break during the process.

Some people claim to get a "high" from drinking a lot of tea, especially from east asian style teas. In english, it's called being "tea drunk" and in chinese, it's 茶醉 (cha zui). Some say it's from the L-Theanine, others say it's from the caffeine. Some claim that certain types of tea have more of an effect than others. This could be something worth investigating.

As someone who has eaten raw Carolina Reapers, I can confirm that you get an endorphin/adrenalin rush that definitely feels like a high. Comparing it to a runner's high is a good comparison.

Fun fact, capcaicin and menthol (hot and cold substance) trigger different heat receptors so you can feel both at once

You've just discovered how masochism works.
"Hurts So Good: The Science and Culture of Pain on Purpose" by Leigh Cowart has a chapter on hot food and its connection to other "masochism" (including real one) activities.

When I was like 6, I had sushi for the first time. I didn't know what Wasabi was so I ate the entire lump they gave us, freaked out, took a big gulp of Sprite and then exploded it over the entire table 😭

doing a video eating spicy things whilst having hemorroids??!! absolute madman.

Fun fact: The aztecs would give warriors a drink made from chocolate and chili called xocolatl before a battle.

Apparently people like scary movies for a similar reason- the endorphins released after the movie ends, or after a tense scene ends, create a kind of high- just like fighting through a spicy meal!

The graditude of coming back to reality after hitting the 50x salvia and thinking you're a steak on a conveyor belt and you're about to get packed,, wrapped, and trapped there forever

if diddyolympics were a thing, "Sock off" would have been it's cornerstone event

i like using the phrase "getting a head change" instead of "getting high" It feels more accurate, especially when taking a substance that doesnt get you super inebriated.

Before I tried any sort of substance I went to an Indian food place and ordered the hottest item on their menu (Vindaloo). I learned two things that day. 1 Vindaloo is delicious, 2 spicy enough food has a very interesting effect on perception

So, I was a pretty aggressive hot food hound a few years ago. I found that the euphoria was getting the most noticeable and therefore enjoyable after I had built up quite a bit of tolerance. Firstly, the food became so much tastier, new flavours emerged when I wasn't just tasting the firey burn. And the "high" that came with pushing my limit, just a little bit was amazing. Had to back down because of stomach issues. Those are unrelated to the spicy by the way. Don't drink too much illegally produced hard liquor mixed with peach ice tea at a music festival kids.

Also the euphoria is a lot like after getting tattooed to me.
