Thanks so much for the shout out, pal. We're all long time fans of the channel (no surprise I'm sure). We're thrilled you enjoyed the cut, we hope your viewers will too. Keep up the good work!
In some ways, I hope David Fincher finds some solace in the fact that Alien 3—despite all its imperfections and haphazard production—has found a kind of resonance in the hearts and affections of its audiences. I consider Alien 3 to be a testament to the aesthetic power and artistic value of cinematography. Why? Because despite external and harmful factors, its value as a work of art transcends. Why dedicate so much time and effort to a film from more than 30 years ago? Because its aesthetic and artistic power endure despite its difficulties and flaws. I find it moving, and a testament to the love that people have for the film. Perhaps Fincher will never be able to love Alien 3, but I hope that one day he will be able to appreciate the love that people have for it.
I love Alien 3's redemption theme. It's full of horrific lowlifes you can't imagine ever caring about, the most "respectable" one of which (Dillon) we're almost immediately informed is a murderer and R-pist of women... Yeah just more fodder for the Alien once it shows up. And yet by the end of it you realise that the chararacter (and to a certain extent some of the others too) isn't just some scumbag fighting for his own skin but is willing to die for the loyalty he has for "his" remaining men, and the respect he's gained for the already doomed Ripley. And though they don't know it back on earth - he arguably saves everyone... And it feels believable too. All the actors put in absolute top notch performances but Charles Dutton especially nailed it. He steals every scene imo.
You have to admire any fan willing to do work like this. Present company included. Especially when you have corporations who have absolutely no reason not to do it.
Superb work by A34K. As I get older, Alien3 has snuck its way into my heart. It’s the last Alien film that took risks with both the lore and its characters and I love its flawed bravery for it. It was born out of chaos, yes, but as its still as intriguing as hell.
Maybe removing the egg & facehugger is a great decision. It means it is more impactful when Bishop reveals there was an alien onboard. I've always found Bishop's revelation to be a little redundant, at least from an audience standpoint, but now it's more crucial in putting together what happened.
I personally think this Legacy Cut is by far the best. Enhanced visuals, better colour grain, better pacing! I already loved both the Original Cut and the Assembly Cut. The Assembly cut was then my favorite because of the additional scenes and flow of story however, the Legacy Cut by far surpasses both of them cuts. It really is a Studio Quality release and I am so happy I found it! Thank you so much!
With the egg on the sulaco being edited out of this cut, it makes it far more plausible that an already hatched face hugger got onto the sulaco possibly by hitching a ride with the Queen Alien before Ripley blew it out of the airlock.
I dont care what they say, Alien 3 is a masterpiece despite its flaws. Awesome atmosphere and chilling Elliot Goldenthal score. Love this movie. All versions equally!
After watching all versions of this movie with no doubt this is my favourite version. Just incredible and beautifully made that completes a lot of missing scenes and character development important for the story without losing the pacing. When it came out in the theatres I was like most people that hated and was shocked by the deaths of the characters from Aliens and Ripley. But as I have grown old and watched more times Alien 3 in my opinion is a work of art and a beautiful ending to the Alien saga. Because for me there is only 3 films in the Alien universe and the rest is just rubbish. I really would like to thank the guys who made this version of Alien 3 because you just can feel the love and attention to details for this movie they have. Thanks so very much
