理由としては国道4号からのアクセスがよく、八戸まで出る必要がないこと。駐車場が格安でパークアンドライドにうってつけであったこと。この二点が大きいです。
下北から八戸に出るのは地図や路線図で見るよりしんどいので、七戸十和田の存在はかなりありがたい存在でした。
しかもローカル線よりも遠方からの客が多いわけだから、地域にお金を落とす可能性も高くなるし
七戸十和田があった。
新青森じゃなくて変な所で下りるんだなぁ・・・とか思ったけど、
下北半島に行くには良い辺りなんだっけか・・・
盛岡以南と同じフル規格（普通の新幹線）と二転三転し、最終的に北海道新幹線とその札幌延伸を
考慮し、全線フル規格で建設することに決まった経緯がある。
両者共せっかく新幹線を当て込んだのに振り回された挙句廃止になったのです
非常に残念な結果です
ただ、冬季は屋外駐車だととんでもないことになるので青森空港を利用しておりました。
青森空港の駐車場は屋根付きでしたからね。少々お金はかかりますが、雪の中から車を掘り起こす労苦を考えると安いものでした。
乗客からの分かりやすさという観点から見ても、良かったと思います。
かなり前、TBSテレビの「噂の東京マガジン」の「噂の現場」のコーナーの中で、
当時の十和田市長が、「八戸十和田」または「新青森十和田」という名前を要望してい
て、知名度の低い七戸に十和田という地名をつけることに反対だったという内容を
放送していたことを思い出しました。
八戸駅周辺や新青森駅周辺の人が「駅からかなり遠いのに十和田という名前なんて
つける必要がない」といった声も放送されていましたね。
先日、普通の平日に七戸十和田駅を利用しましたが、帰宅ラッシュ時間だったためか、駅のKEY’S CAFÉもビジネスマンや地元客、外国人観光客で満席☕️ローカル駅では中々見られないであろうパソコンをいじるビジネスマンの姿に、「さすが新幹線駅だなあ」と感心した記憶があります😳発車前にはホームも人だかりができていて、正直すごいなぁと思っていました✨(駅駐車場が新青森や八戸に比べて安いのでパークアンドライドで利用しやすいんですよね。)
またまた青森県の話題で嬉しいです♫ありがとうございます🥰
