I think Dahaka chasing prince,  not because he opened hourglass, but while acquiring dagger in first time, a big stone suppose to fall on him, that supposedly kill him, but he used dagger of time to survive.

I think Dahaka gives Prince a fighting chance not because it wants Prince into fixing his own mess, but because it just likes the thrill of chase, like a cat likes to play with its prey. Considering no one can escape their fate and Dahaka is like an immortal time lord or whatever, it just savours these moments because how often does it have these kinds of events happen where some goober decides to go against the current of time?

I think the Dahaka is easier on the prince until he kills Kaileena is because he is pushing him towards his fate - to create the sands of time. Can't say why not just kill him on that cliff in the beach outright, but in the catacombs and the prison the Dahaka is relentless, it seems like it's thinking "Alright, you did your job, now it's time for you to truly disappear"

Fun Fact;

Azhi Dahaka is a three headed dragon and son of Ahriman in the Zoroastrian religion. He is the keeper of all knowledge and knows everything. One head looks to the past, one to the present and one to the future. In some ways he represents how all knowledge has the capacity to be used for evil. The Dahaka being a giant shadow demon that can exists in all places in time is actually pretty spot on. Though I am guessing they didn’t want to tie them in directly to the religious figure because it would be disrespectful.

One of the biggest plotholes is actually the medallion itself. See, the prince shouldn't really have it at all.
Farah leaves it with you after she looses faith in the prince.
Now when she fails to reach the hourglass, the prince, grief stricken, drops it beside her and does not pick it up.
And when he returns to warn her, she is still wearing it when he departs after slaying the vizier.
So how does he have it in WW.

And if the Dahaka is vuñnerable to water, how was it able to track prince to an island?!

Is nobody gonna mention the giant mickey mouse hand the prince starts wearing like halfway through the video

I think the reason the dahaka doesnt just go back in time to kill the prince is because its a man made beast lacking intellect, designed singularly to kill anyone who messes with time indiscriminately. If it had intellect it would be able to mess with time for its own ends, in other words its a dumb beast that tries to kill things in the most direct way possible, a golem of sand if you will

But I want to share my thoughts about Dahaka being vulnerable to water
Let's begin with this question
What is Dahaka’s Nature?
The Dahaka’s vulnerability to water is actually rooted in the game’s mythological symbolism and the narrative logic of time, order, and chaos that runs through the series.
The Dahaka is not a normal creature or a sand monster. It’s a cosmic enforcer, a manifestation of fate and temporal order. Its role is to ensure that the timeline remains pure, that anyone who defies fate is erased.
So, unlike the sand monsters (who are corrupted mortals created by the Sands), the Dahaka is a primordial being of shadow, entropy, and inevitability — not a living organism in the conventional sense.
Water is a symbol of life and purity,
In the game’s world (and in many mythologies, including the Persian and Mesopotamian influences that inspired Prince of Persia), water represents purity, life, and cleansing. It’s the opposite of decay and corruption.
The Dahaka, being a manifestation of darkness and death (a shadowy force tied to time’s decay), is naturally repelled or harmed by purity and the flow of life — embodied by water.
So, when the Dahaka comes into contact with water, it’s not “melting” like a sand creature would; it’s being purified or banished by an element fundamentally opposed to its nature.
And the most important question
Why other sand creatures aren’t weak to water?
At beginning of Warrior Within, we see that Sand creatures attack Prince’s ship in a storm! They are not afraid of water
The sand creatures that the Prince fights throughout the game are physical beings — humans or beasts corrupted and reanimated by the Sands of Time. They’re biological entities sustained by the Sands, not ethereal manifestations of cosmic law.
Water doesn’t symbolically counteract corruption the same way it does the cosmic imbalance represented by the Dahaka. It might inconvenience them, but it doesn’t erase their existence because they’re not bound to the same metaphysical rules.

I hope these knowledge will be a little help in understanding some of the game's lore
Also I have a big revelation about the Warrior Within’s story that no one knows yet! 😏 maybe I'll reveal it sometime in the future

For me Dahaka doesn't kill instantly the Prince not because he likes to play with his pray or because he gives him a chance, but because that there could be some weird untold "rules". Like the Prince has the "the right" to attempt to change his fate and only if he fails the Dahaka would rightfully take his life. Since the Dahaka "fights" for what is "rightrful" and true in a concrete timeline, the rules are just "saying" something like: "Those who are destined to perish shall have the chance of avoiding that fate" or something like that. I think Dahaka is playing by the "rules" of his nature (being an almighty entity that acts in a certain scenario) while the Prince is the one "cheating", because he is desperate to survive. The Dahaka honestly is not a villain - as you said. In his eyes - the Prince is the villain.

One of my favorite games ever, imo i consider WW to be the peak of the prince of persia games due to it's combat, story and dark atmosphere. Also regarding how the Dahaka had many chance to kill the prince but didn't was that i always thought the creature was just feeling sadistic and wanted to fuck with him. Also good video btw can't wait to watch the two thrones one you're making.

Now that you mention that Dahaka theory, It does throw Prince towards the path to learn about the Mask rather than just eating him or throwing him in literly any other direction. never thought of it that way.
