Update: to address the problem with the second SD card slot failing to record properly, I bit the bullet and updated to the latest firmware, as that particular bug has reportedly been fixed. Hasn't been long enough to definitively say the issue is solved, but so far so good. Autofocus is still perfectly fine.

I used to shoot Fuji semi-professionally, weddings, portraits, some product photography but then I jumped ship to Sony for that technological supremacy. I was blown away by the performance of the cameras in combination with the G Master lenses. The high lasted for a while, but now, two years into shooting Sony I AM BORED OUT OF MY SKULL by this technological marvel. Whenever I don't have to shoot for a client, I pick up my old X-T3 with a manual Voigtlander lens and every time the stuff that comes out of this combo just pulls at me in a way that the clinical Sony images just don't. I'm 5 minutes away from selling all my Sony gear...

I‘m a wedding photographer from Germany shooting all Fuji XT5, too and I love it. The feel the wedding people have about the small Fuji is so much less disturbing than with a big Canon body with batterygrip. It sets the people at easy and makes this part of the work so much easier. Sometimes it drives me crazy with the autofocus when there are a lot of faces. But since the latest update it focuses more around the actual focus box and not everywhere in the frame.
I‘m super happy about the prices for the body and especially for the lenses. Also I adapt old Canon EF glas with the Fringer adapter and it works perfectly. Like a original fuji lens.

A great and informative video, thank you dude.  I am a wedding and portrait photographer and mainly use Sony, however the last two portrait events I did I took my Fuji X-E5, love it.  I got so much more comments from the pictures than I did with a Sony

I can't even begin to tell you how nice it was to hear someone talk about not relying on eye autofocus 100% of the time lol.  I remember struggling with my d750 not getting focus in some of my cycling shots and came to find out I was using the wrong af settings.  Same difference here.  Eye autofocus is a tool that CAN be used, not one that should be used constantly.  Plus, I like taking over the camera and actually moving the box around myself or using manual focus.  What a fantastic video and I appreciate your thoughts.

Finally a realistic review

So i've been with sony for 10-12 years plus , I've moved to fuji in 2024 buying a dual XT5 system and the X-H2S , have been doing alot of weddings in 2024 and I honestly Love it. The colors in itself makes life much easier. Yes AF is a bit lacking , may not be tac sharp at times, but with the right settings, and the right lenses it can go toe to toe. I don't think I'm moving back to sony anytime sooner, moved to fuji due to chronic back issues, now being in my early 30's gotta listen to my body before it gets worse lol. Also my wallet is loving that I did moved to fuji, much cheaper than full frame lenses and camera. The previous cameras that i've used were the A7IV 2x, and the A7RIV.

Thank you! Glad to hear someone addressing the autofocus criticism. Just got the x100vi and almost didn’t with 99% of online users complaining about autofocus. and here I am pushing it with low light concerts and indoor sports and find it just fine on my first testruns

Started off on a Olympus micro 4/3 -> A friend showed me their Pentax ME Super (fell in love with film) -> Film is too expensive -> Bought an x-T5 and it just hits the sweet spot between 35mm film and digital quality.

Hey thank you for this vid. I'm just getting started my career as a wedding photographer, and I don't have that much money to invest. I was able to get an old X-T2 and a 23mm F2 as my second body. I still rely on having to rent a Sony A7IV... But I'm really considering, in time, investing in a X-T4 or 5, and this gave me, practically everything I need to know to start making a decision. So thanks! A lot to consider.

3:09 the fuji x100V was absolutely the gateway drug for me into different systems. Ive ended up on the fuji gfx and leica systems, and they have been absolutely unreal for more film emulation work

Been a Canon user for many years (with the exception of my film Nikon body when I started in 2000). Just picked up the X-T5.  Looking forward to getting outside my comfort zone and putting it through its paces for myself.

I have an X-T5 and an X100VI and whilst they are in some ways, completely different cameras with completely different use cases, it’s great that they both basically operate in much the same way with practically identical menu and button assignments very possible, making the transition when moving between the two very easy. Having said that I’m strangely attracted to the Leica DLux8 as a portable do it all travel camera so maybe soon I’ll bite the bullet and get one. But I will never sell either of the Fuji’s unless a new iteration of either is released and that genuinely improves on their predecessor.  Great informative video 👍🏻😎

Nice post, and great insights....and fun channel to look at your posts....     Been shooting weddings since the 90's from 35mmslr's and Mamiya 645s to many canon systems on in through the 2000s...   was in around 2010 or so when the first x100 came out I got one to shoot weddings along side my canon systems at the time...   fast foward as I upgraded to newer fuji bodies over the years and progression of the x lineup I eventually around 2018 sold off all the canon gear and have been shooting a variety of fuji's ever since....   Love they cameras... all system's have their "quirks"....  but have never felt especially with any of the modern bodies...  that I could not get the job done...  and clients luv the results...  Again Hi fives....   Nice post !     two words....
