Hello Makkalea! ❤️
Deep inside the misty hills of Madolsima, Sri Lanka, lives one of the country’s most overlooked communities—the Indian Tamil tea plantation workers. Their story began over 200 years ago, when the British brought thousands of Tamil laborers from South India during the 19th century to work on Sri Lanka’s tea estates. They cleared forests, built the tea plantations, and played a major role in making Ceylon Tea famous around the world. Yet many families continue to face economic hardship and limited access to opportunities.
In today’s vlog, we travel into the heart of the Madolsima tea estates to prepare and distribute essential grocery kits to Tamil plantation worker families. Each relief kit contains:
🌾 3 kg Rice
🫘 2 kg Masoor Dal
🍚 2 kg Sugar
🥛 Milk Powder
This video is not just about giving provisions—it is about meeting the people behind the world’s famous Ceylon tea, understanding their daily lives, hearing their stories, and spreading awareness about the challenges they continue to face.
