Is MPC Vintage Synths Volume 2 Right For You?

Tefty Music Tech

AIR just released the next volume of Vintage Synths and they're synth plugins for your MPC! Now yes, they're sample based and yes they're based on the Fabric engine. In this video I talk about the pros and cons of this approach and show off a few things from the Vintage CS, Vintage Andromeda and Vintage Matrix.

This video is not sponsored and Akai/AIR have no idea I'm making it, but I did create separate videos for their official channels. I'm stating this to be as transparent as possible.

These sample based + synthesis instruments sound far better then the mpc virtual analog because of the cpu limits. Love these.

I agree with the guy that said partner with arturia….I’d love the ability to load emulation vst’s….Arturia, Cherry audio, Temulca, Ensoniq SD-1, and Aly’s Linn drum emulations…..

For being Romplers, the price is steep even on discount. But hey we have more variety!

Great video! I like what AKAI is doing with the MPCs. Including synths, vintage modes, etc are all really cool and super useful. Totally next generation MPC stuff. It would be nice for the synths to not be sample-based but I get it- it's a sampler, not a synthesizer. Still sounds great.

Also... we should just start calling the Yamaha CS-80 the CS-$80,000 😂

I really wish they put a 303 inside this bad boy. It’s getting to a point where I dread taking my 303 out now because of how much they go for especially with the devilfish mod

Clipping with the drums as well. Akai has a major problem across the board with samples/synths being a bit hot. I would love if the partnered smith Arturia on the vintage synth front. Imagine analog lab lyte or something on MPC. Great vid per usual!

These are good, like the vol 1 release. All good. I get they are not for everyone. But I genuinely think the implementation is excellent especially with the MPE control options. The new 3.9 waveform/samples are amazing but still a far bigger faff than these simplified layout releases even if the faff is fun. The presets I agree are not life changing but they aren’t rubbish. For sound design, all three are great imo. I don’t know what people expect. The MPC platform is by far the most comprehensive/all basses covered standalone option available but still majority of comments are from, Complainy McWhinge

I noticed on the demo for the Prophet model that the patches are too hot as well. Some of the presets are great, but someone at Akai/Air needs to learn gain staging

CS sounds quite nice!

Humm… just a few days ago I found there's an Andromeda emulation coming along, but for desktop. Those plug-ins, even as sample base, just do the job.

Great tip on the clipping ! 🔥😎

It's cool, but now with built-in mpc oscillators, I rather buy oscillator expansion instruments 😅

I think I'm happy enough with my existing Fabric sounds that I don't need it, but these patches do sound quite nice.

Totally unbiased! :D

This plugins are great.V1 and V2 The clipping sometimes is not a great problem for me. Thank you Tefty. Verry good video

119€ for all three is ok. Programmers need to earn some money otherwise nothing new will come our way. The Vintage pack 1 of course needs also to go down to 120€ for all three together. 99€ per piece is a sad joke. I buy these things mainly for the presets, because changing presets is easier than creating stuff from scratch

From a soundlibrary perspective the different fabric” plugins sound amazing. Like a Omnisphere in my MPC. But more limited in sound design. If you buy them on sale the price could be ok…. Much like the Native Instrument plugins in my opinion.

Way too expensive. 😮 They're not worth that. Do yourself a favour and make your own sample libraries, I do and I love it. You already have the tools to do it. MPC is super powerful now. Use the oscilators built into the new version. Create samples from them, get creative... The CS sounds a bit lame.. There's always that stereotypical vangelis slow attack, warm brass sound too 😂 is that all a CS80 can do? I can tell your not impressed by these, especially the gain staging issue. How the hell they release that with the levels all wrong is shameful really. Someone should have noticed it. Great video as always Tefty 😎👌

Great vid, wondering if you notice issues addressed in final release?

Hey buddy, I wanted to come here and let you know that if you still have your KORG wave state that while using these vintage volume two plug plug-ins the mod wheel and the vector stick are set up the vector stick controls the resonance and frequency cutoff
