Growing up in Greece, my contact with a genre like the blues, especially the old classics, was minimal. I was a Heavy Metal kid, and even this way, listening to people's or band's names was difficult to say the least, as even the Greek experts made mistakes. So I never happened to actually listen to the name of one Huddie William Ledbetter, alias Lead Belly. I realize now that pronouncing the first part of the name as the verb and not as the chemical element doesn't make much sense, but that's how it was always stuck in my mind. So the fact that this name is pronounced wrongly for this video is 100% on ME and nothing else.
This ol' geezer knows, that younger generations probably haven't heard of Rory - BUT I can guarantee you that back in the day, I and everyone else, in the guitar communities around the world, loved, adored and admred this humble, gentle sadly late Irish Bluesman. May he always rest in peace, in the eternal heaven of blues. Rory " the glory" Gallagher fan forever ☮️♥️🎸
The fact that Rory is so beloved in Greece tells something about the last very few remaining good qualities of the Greek people. He stands as a symbol of integrity and honesty for me. There is a life beyond profit
Rory Gallagher was able to express his feelings directly with the guitar like no other. All his life energy was in his music. // He was the last of the independents. A lonely, beloved legend. // I own all his albums. He wrote an incredibly large number of beautiful songs that embody the essence of life. // His voice complemented his playing in a wonderful way. He himself was always the best interpreter of all his songs. // His work has stood the test of time.
I was lucky to find Rory from his beginning, I'm 72 and remember seeing him live in Australia,, I was a teenager watching my hero live,, energy on fire is what I saw,, I have everything he recorded,, and listen to him a few times a week if not days,, I am happy utube has so much of him for people to watch,, I am happy young players discover him and are amazed with his sound,, Rory will live on in his music for ever,, a real musical gem lost early that day I remember as the day one of the best musicians passed,, RIP Rory Gallagher
He was mesmerising on stage ,I've got his albums but he was fantastic live , I saw him twice his brilliant playing and the joy he exuded on stage was infectious to us in the audience , he inspired many guitarists, sadly missed RIP.
I wish he wouldn’t have been so stubborn with singles. He could have been so much more known especially if he’d released edged in blue as a single. He’s my favorite guitarist and I respect his decisions but he deserved so much more. Rip Rory, Ireland’s first rock star
One of the best overall summeries of Rory's life story without all the long tales & gossip that usually follow. Thank you. I saw Rory in 1972 at the Peachtree Festival at Rockingham Motor Speedway in N.C. He was wonderful. I'll never forget him. We weren't familiar with his music but we had heard of him. He lived up to his reputation. Everyone loved him. He play ed all kinds of music ,smiling & warm. The crowd loved him. He was very polite & professional.
