33:46 well every character has default dmg range. You can see it on the screen under their quirks. highwaymans normal dmg with unupgraded weapon is 5-10 which is reduced by 15% from the open vein modifier and then by another 15% from brigands prot making it 4-8. You can see all the final values when hovering over the enemy with the skill equipped (chance to hit/crit/ and damage range)

I really enjoyed this video. You clearly have a passion for these games, and it's nice to see you having fun with them while making the video instead of just repeating tired talking points. Awesome job, my dude

00:57 Off of that reference, I subscribed. You now have my full attention that is partitioned to entertainment as I work. 🤣

Turn Based games have been and will always be classic. The biggest reason that most people dislike it is because they weren't raised on those games and twitch gameplay like fps shooters helped in ruining their attention spans.
I'll always love Turn Based games because they harken back to the tabletop. Video games still get inspiration from tabletop, even in 2026 but it takes specific fans to keep the torch lit.

You enamored me with the wildly nostalgic music choices, intrigued me with the nuanced insight and colorful enthusiasm...and locked me in with shitting a moose. 😝. Thanks for entertaining me through the cramped highway drive to my dad's. 👍🏾

I’ve been really getting back into turn based games since I got a switch 2. Plus I got a huge backlog now. I picked up Triangle strategy and have been on a huge kick the past couple months. It’s been great.

"The Last Spell" was my cure. 10-hour session for ONE fight? Sure. Metal soundtrack by Algorytm(!) ? Sure. Weird point - but this game have story implemented in gameplay.

I fugging love turn based combat. There. I said it.

I got my signature game (dungeon crawl stone soup), rift wizard, and worldless

the first two are roguelikes (not roguelike-inspired games) and the last one is a metroidvania.

I prefer Darkest dungeon 1 for the feel and persistence, but I do think DD2 does the turn based combat part a lot better

I'm surprised anyone remembered Star Renegades at all. Solid game, solid soundtracks.

My dude, no! It's called finale because you do it last! The penalties for using it are so high you basically only want your jester doing support skills after using finale. Never open your strat with finale!

Been playing old turn based games for decades. I have no need to buy new ones. I have oodles and spades of them in my backlog.

Legend of Dragoon is the goat.

You can tell the industry is clueless as a whole lol
Take SE for exemple: they make FF X which was the peak of the franchise and had a combat system often praised as the best.
So SE decided to make sure never to make anything like it ever again for good measures lol
Anyways, good video!

I NEED other games to copy and improve on Library of Ruina's gameplay

I highly recommend everything made by Trese Brothers games.  Not only are there PC versions on Steam but most of them also have mobile versions as most started on mobile devices before launching from PC.

Cyber Knights Flashpoint is their newest game on Steam and highly worth the time to play and support two brothers who update more than any other company I've ever seen.

One inaccuracy when talking about the Jester in Darkest Dungeon. Dirk stab buffs Finale damage not his overall damage. The Jester's whole kit is basically buffing the Finale skill. That's how you get to oneshot final boss with him

I'd like to correct one of your statements and give you few tips in Darkest Dungeon. You said that applying bleed and blight increases resistance of the enemies to said Dots and it's simply not true. Idk what gave you this impression. The only thing that increases resistance once it's applied is stun for balance purposes (It would be completely broken if you could perma stunlock any enemy) It's still OP even with this limitation in place.

As for the tips:
1. The big one would be to run from fights and retire from the mission if things go really badly. You will still keep wherever you've had in your inventory so you're not losing as much as you'd think. Losing good heroes and trinkets is way worse.
2. You can lock up to 3 positive quirks (to make sure they won't be replaced by any in the future), not just remove the negative ones (you can do both of those things at the same time if you want to). It's very expensive, but if you get something really good, it's probably going to be a good investment. Like Hot to Trot or Luminous. Killing things faster than they can move means less dmg and stress received.
3. Accuracy and Crits are the most important stats. Remember especially that Crit is King! Here's why it's better than a simple % dmg buff. It does few things. Deals high dmg, heals stress and gives a temporary buff to the hero that depends on class, like for example Highwayman gets +2 speed for 3 turns or Crusader gains +15% Prot for 3 turns. Because of those benefits Focus Ring if the best all around trinket on most heroes that don't rely on dodge and I highly recommend looking after it in expedition rewards.
4. Be proactive. Healing is reactive. It's usually better for your healers to stun or deal dmg than to heal. Enemies almost always deal more dmg than you can heal so leave it for the end of the fights or when you need to pull one of your heroes from the deaths door. On top of that remember, Crit is King! Vestal and Occultist land a Crit, they gain a buff that makes their heal 25% stronger on the following turn. quickly killing enemies = negating recieved dmg + more effective heals.

I can still think of a bunch of tips, but those are the big ones and I don't want to overload you. Hope they help! This game is not as hard as some ppl paint it to be :3
(edit) spelling and better wording

this whole debate is unironically a psyop square enix created to justify their massive managerial incompetence.
if you look at the sales of every turn based franchise over the last 20 years the anti turn based bias of the masses is complete fiction, it's not real and it never was. pokemon and dragon quest laughed all the way to the bank for a decade+ while smaller studios like atlus grew steadily with no signs of slowing down at all.

the only reason squeenix can possibly have to keep bringing it up is that action games on average are more expensive to make than turn based, and that makes the cost of the development disasters that were FF13, 15 and the extreme overbudgeting of 16 seem less unhinged.

if FF16 had been turn based every investor would have lost his mind at the money they spent on all the spectacle just to sell less than 4 million units, but if you make it a mashing simulator action game and put QTEs on the hyperexpensive cutscenes you can say action games are more expensive so you needed the budget of a AA game for a bossfight and not sound like a complete lunatic.
