Long time no see. This is Higuchi.

Last year was a good year for me.

That's because I saw the reunion concert of the British rock band Oasis at Tokyo Dome.

I've liked them since high school or middle school. Back then, I used to rent 10 classic albums for 1000 yen from the CD rental section of Geo (a Japanese rental store).

At that time, I didn't know much about Western music, and I think I just rented CDs that were being promoted, even though I didn't know the names of the artists. I don't remember much, though.

I remember that when I listened to them, I found that I'd heard many of the songs before, and I quickly grew to like them.

The CD I rented was a greatest hits album, and I only learned about the other songs much later.

After that, I started liking heavy rock bands and listening to Japanese bands, so I feel like I didn't listen to Oasis as often.

But I think I've always liked them.

Since they weren't active, I didn't have many opportunities to become a fan.

That being said, the first song I practiced on guitar was by Oasis, and I think the most Western music I listened to was Oasis.

When I saw on Twitter that the band was making a comeback, I cynically thought, "Yeah, yeah, another hoax, they'll probably just fight again and the plan will fall through."

But then they did reunite, I got tickets, and the brothers got along so well leading up to the show—it was a truly wonderful day.

I was a bit taken aback when I saw the two of them holding hands and laughing together on their entrance.

The live show was fantastic, of course. It reminded me of my high school commute.

Naturally, I sang along to every song, but my throat started hurting and I lost my voice after the second or third song.

Everyone was singing along as if the songs were their own, and I was deeply moved to see them singing the English songs so naturally.

The young girl next to me asked me before the show started if we should turn around, put our arms around each other's shoulders, and jump together—that was also very touching.

I was in the back of the first block, so I secretly turned back around halfway through.

I think I've grown to love Champagne Supernova and The Masterplan even more after this!

It was a fantastic show that I'd love to see again, but as long as the brothers are getting along well, that's enough for me.

I wonder if I'll be disliked for strongly defending Man City 😅

The next description will be about the World Cup.
