With a TT and a Svengali Deck you can rule the world !

Hal Saxon has many effects both thumb tips, dye tubes, and gives creative ways to make similar apparatus on the spot.  His handling is excellent, and he teaches ways to subtly hide and transfer the gimmicks in such a way that look so natural and convincing.  Every time I see someone using a thumb tip I learn something new, and I have been an amateur magician for nearly 60 years!

I agree with everything that David has said!  But note, also what David had mentioned in the beginning: it doesn’t really matter how the thumb tip looks because no one is supposed to see it anyway.  I was taught by the great magician Mario Gonzales (RIP) who used to demonstrate the proper use with a thumb tip that was painted with bright colors and stars all over it.  The point was, you weren’t supposed to show the tip to the audience, just use it.  Of course, thumb tips of the quality of Vernet can pass casual inspection if you quickly flash them, keep them moving or point the tip directly at your audience (which hides the size of the elongated thumb while showing your hand empty!).  Anyway, thanks for the great lesson, David.  I’m going off to “rediscover” my thumb tips right now!

I just did a thumb tip vanishing silk last Friday at work!! It blew the group away! Never underestimate TTs. Thank you David for the great tutorial.

Back when I was working at a magic shop, the owner would do lectures. And one of the parts was about using a TT and how, if done right, they (spectators) would never know you have one on. To prove his point, he would do the whole part while using a chrome plated TT! Seen him fool a lot of people using it! 👍🏼👍🏼

Thanks for the Tip.😎

Can't go wrong with hard Vernet.  I also have been using a king size tip much more lately.  On the exposure issue, I argue that people don't know about thumbtip magic... but many people know how to vanish a small, 6 inch silk, and that is really the limit of thumbtip exposure in popular culture.  And so, I wouldn't be caught dead vanishing a silk with a thumbtip.  But there are so many other great uses for it.  I just started a series on my channel yesterday where we are looking at the most unorthodox uses for the gimmick and the first example already caught a few people off guard.  It's a powerful tool. Great advocacy video and great starting resources!

A lot more people have seen the movie "Night at the Museum" which also "spoiled" the thumbtip. The thumbtip is one of the first tricks any magician learns - the people that don't know are the ones that don't want to know. Thanks for all you do. I love your content.

Tip for those who need to darken the gimmick, use model paint for the hard version, vinyl or latex paint for the the soft

Of those who saw a TT used in a movie, you're likely to have 2 types of spectators... those that think EVERY trick must use one or those who'll never know/consider the possibility of whether a TT was used EXCEPT for the one they saw in the movie.  I love them!

Vernet long is what I use. You can stuff almost anything in there.

Every single video you post is valuable, but this one is at the top, JUSSSST under your magic wallet advice ones. Thank you for everything you do!

The Vernet range is the best out there as mentioned by David, As a Professional Corporate Magician I use 3 TT  throughout shows and are used in a  subtle way that the guests never realise what Im using them for etc, very powerful when used properly and as natural as you can

You had me at the Zener card shirt my man. Subscribed, thank you.😎

GREAT discussion here Dave. thanks

Thanks for the advice, David.

Hi David, I've used Thumb Tips for years now and it has become a bit harder to use because "people" seem to know the trick from some movies now. But when they don't know it works a like a charm.

Another variation on the thumb tip, the FT I love watching spectators  eyes widened when I tuck the silk in my fist with just my finger.

David, you sound hilarious when listened at 1/2 speed. It puts a big smile on my face.  :D. Nice review.

Ha! Now I know how my grandpa used to do that trick with his thumb. His looks real so I'll ask him where he got it and let you know.
