Building an SP404 live set for me is a lot more involved than just loading up a few finished songs and pressing play.
In this video, I’m breaking down the entire process I used to turn my finished tracks into a live set on the SP404 MK2. Starting with the finished songs in Logic Pro, I figure out which parts I actually want to perform, create backing tracks and playable elements, move everything back onto the SP404, and then work through effects, pad layouts, routing and transitions to make the whole set flow together.
Along the way, I also experiment with changing pitch between songs, using effects to create smoother transitions, and figuring out when it actually makes more sense to simplify things instead of trying to perform every part.
