Which came first, bread or beer? This- more than the chicken and the egg- is the true question that's baffled historians for generations. What we know for sure is that since the beginning of human civilization, beer has been essential; starting out as a thick nutrient-rich beer "porridge", in this video we track the incredible path to the present, from Hammurabi's Code to the German expansion to the modern craft beer revolution. And along the way, we spend time with some innovative brewers, to learn the science and techniques behind actually making beer itself.

The Working Man's Beer
1) Apologies on the pronunciation of Vinny Cilurzo's name- I think I said "Ceruzo." Maybe force of habit from when Vinny Cerrato was running an NFL team. Anyway, yeah, it's Cilurzo.
2) In the part where I was explaining the origins of pale ale, I left out one very important sentence- the barley after germination should be roasted to dry. Without the "to dry," barley left to germinate and then roasted is just plain old malted barley.
3) Should clarify the part where Daria and I were both bought out by AB-InBev. Daria was a sales manager for Boxing Cat in Shanghai, showed up to work one day and was handed ABI business cards. Mine is a lot less dramatic; Starr Hill was my chief sponsor for a show I hosted and a partner business, but I was not working there when it was bought out, in case my wording is misleading. (The thing about taping these to-camera is there are no second takes, sometimes I wish I'd rephrased something afterwards)
Cheers all and please enjoy!
