I visited Capula, Michoacán, a town renowned for its traditional clay Catrinas, to learn firsthand about the work of the artisans who keep this incredible tradition alive.
We went into one of their workshops to discover the entire process of making a Catrina: from molding the clay and every detail, to firing, painting, and the final touches that transform each piece into a true work of art.
Capula is also preparing to host the 2026 Catrina Fair, one of Michoacán's most important artisan celebrations, which this year will take place from October 18 to November 3.
