Every golfer trying to break 90 should have a 7w in their bag.
Those with speed will hit it far enough off the tee to break 90 and those without speed will be able to launch it up in the air and hit it far enough.
Id go 7w, 7i, pw, 56 and putter I personally add my 50 too as wedges are my best clubs.
When I first broke 90 I used those clubs but I had a ping 6h instead of the 7i

Your videos are gold. Excellent info. Thank you!!

Sound so obvious and to the point! Thanks a lot ! I started to play 10 months ago, got 28 handicap, and it was a kind of victory for me. But realized that I have so many stupid mistakes and heroic strikes..wanna break within 3 months;) so you can change the title and not to underestimate your advise !

true stuff

underrated channel!

Excellent presentation; thank you for the time and effort you put into making and sharing this information.
Currently in my bag.  12degree driver, 7 wood, 25 degree hybrid, 30, 40, 50 degree hybrid irons 55 sand wedge and putter.  I am 65 y/o and playing to a 13.2 index.

Thanks for the confirmation about the equipement! I have thrown out all my clubs except Driver, Rescue, 8,9, PW and Putter. I was practicing recently on my Drives and short game only with the PW as well redefined my grip and setup like you showed. My buddies were surprised when I won the last tournament with 45 stablepoints🤣. Now the want to know the secret. 🤣

My 5 clubs. Driver, 4H, 8i, SW, putter. Only got into golf seriously in the last 2 months. Played off and on 20 years ago...only a few times. But I built a new man cave and decided...why not put in a golf sim. So I practice almost every day. To your point...getting the ball and club data has been huge for me to perfect my swing. Knowing my club path and descent angle has really helped me finally begin to make (almost) consistent good ball first contact. Still gotta fix my slice with my driver though. I'd say I hit a pretty nasty slice on maybe 35% of tee shots. But for 2 months in I'm finally happy with my progress. For all other clubs, I just do closest to the pin and hit greens from distances 90-160 yards.

4h, 7i, 9i, 52°, putter
Switch 4h for 4i if windy

Very useful - thanks!
As far as clubs go, I would sacrifice a bit of distance and swap my 5 for my 6, it's the 1 club in my bag that I feel really good about close to 100% of the time (as a 25HC, at the moment it is the club I go to when feeling unsure on the tee, may only go 150m but I know it will be in play and down the fairway) - the rest are a work in progress...

A clean driver can go 240 total but usually goes 200/220 on good and 100-150 on bad (if it stays in). My 3 hybrid goes 170-180 majority of times and barely goes on. So for me it's 3 hybrid, 7 iron , 9 iron, 50, and 50 degree. I'm actually pretty solid at a  a flop with the 60 and I used my 9 and 50 for a lot of bump and runs

My 5 clubs would be:
Driver
6 iron
8 iron
56 degree
Putter

I started playing in march but I feel like my driver mechanics are broken. I can string it sometimes but for the most part, it sucks. I kill on the approach and chips/ putts but man if I can only hit my drives consistently.

Is five iron set up pretty much the same as the eight iron (mid iron in vid)?

Personally I would swap driver and 3 wood. 3 Wood for the distance off the tee but also from the fairway, 5 iron, 8 iron, 54 and putter

☝️Good advice. Notice what he didn't mention: Speed training, distance, shaping -- none of that is needed to break 90.

Thanks, Ryan! How do you define "around the green"? Is that under a specific yardage, or chipping vs pitching?

Personally if i only had 5 clubs is swap a 4 iron for the 5 ( i hit the 4 straighter .) and a gap wedge forbthe sand wedge and play lower to the ground and avoid the sand . ( Unless their are lots of green side bunkers with high lips ) .

I came back from a long break away from the game and went and got fit. 9 months later I’m back in my clubs from 2007 and have zero confidence in the clubs I was fit into.
