I Bought a 2025 Yamaha Tenere 700 | Major Improvements to an ADV Legend (EP.1)

For 2025 Yamaha have updated their Tenere 700 adventure bike to better compete with the Honda Transalp 750, Suzuki V-Strom 800DE, Aprilia Tuareg 660, KTM 890 Adventure and others. I bought one so we can review it over a 6 to 12 month period and see how much better it really is, or isn't. #yamaha #tenere700 #t7 #advbike #advrider

⚡I'm curious, do you think Yamaha did enough with this update to attract new buyers, or to get current owners to upgrade? Any particular things you want me to focus on in this review series, please let me know. Thanks!

⚡Video Corrections: (1) The optional quick shifter may only be one-directional, I am trying to confirm,, (2) I glossed over the ride modes, you have 2 modes, Explore which is a more gentle throttle response, and Sport, which is a more aggressive throttle response.

Here’s a pro tip from a guy who rides with guys who have big heavy bikes. Get yourself some heavy duty re-useable zip ties, so that when you lay your big heavy bike down, you can zip tie the front brake in and thus make your lifting exercises much, much easier. Trust me on this one!

What I actually want is a Tenere 500 twin, 150kg, 18l tank with the WR450f suspension. Build that Yamaha.

I bought a left over 2024 last week. My new fav. And I have 7 bikes. Also, turned 75 in April. I love your channel. It’s excellent!

After decades of riding I'd have never thought of purchasing a >200kg bike. Well, I did. This is the biggest compliment I can give to the T7.

@CarlosRodriguez-kb9jc 1 year ago

I’m glad to see that you’re going to do more T7 content. Looking forward to it. Keep it coming.

Just got my quick shifter on my 2025 tenere and can confirm it works for up and downshifts

@hovishill2779 1 year ago

Addressed what people complained about. No cruise, no tubeless, no removeable subframe, no detachable silencer hanger. Shame Yamaha didn’t do what was needed imho.

@Sven-jg4jf 1 year ago

I just bought the exact same T7 two days ago. Best bike I’ve ever ridden!

Woah, Ian. First the 390 and now this? I know it's not easy investing all that time and money into this channel.

@gsj-66 1 year ago

Great of you to set the record straight on the comments from the 390 video. Your transparency is what sets you apart. For the naysayers that say that everything in Europe is more expensive...that is simply not always the case. The price on a bike in Germany (or Europe) is the final price, tax is always included in that price. After seeing the cost's for this bike in CA, with the added taxes and fees, transport, and even adding in the approx. 10% exchange rate in EU favor, the T7 (and most other bikes currently) is actually less here. Normally a dealer here will add in a discount, and/or there is a factory rebate available, or maybe a training voucher or accessory rebate of some sort. Throw in the fact we almost always get ALL THE MODELS available (there has been at least 7 versions of the 2024 and prior model and currently 3 of the new 2025 model- and more coming soon) vs the US only getting a single model, actually there is really no argument for "it's better buying a bike in the US". BTW, I'm an American, working for a US company in Europe so of course my view always leans towards the US side of things. Keep up the great work Ian. Cheers, GS Jack

It would have been such a simple mod for Yamaha to make a "sacrificial" bolt on exhaust mount bracket which is easy to replace and issue every bike with a spare bracket under the seat. Alternatively, rubber mount it so it bends in and then recovers or can be recovered by pulling it back out. Either way was totally do-able. We get the World Raid here in the UK and if you fill the tanks to the same capacity as the normal T7, it feels a lot more wieldy and lower COG. Strangely, even with 23 litres in, it somehow still feels to have a slightly lower COG.

The "Did you know?" popups are so cute

We The People .. appreciate the fact you aren't afraid to explain Tariffs...keep your head up and great content.

Regarding cruise control, I bought an $8 plastic palm grip from Amazon and it works great. It uses the palm of your hand instead of having to grip the handle bars with your fingers.

@travisdonaldstanley6420 1 month ago

Great illustration of how heavy and top heavy this beast is.

And you seem to always pick up bikes with ease.

I like the method of grabbing the handle bar and facing the other way you did. Suma wrestler squat.

Great footage of the RGSA on being easier .
