The crazy thing is the goalkeepers are all experienced, top goalies, they saw it was David Beckham putting the ball down for the free kick, they knew what he was going to do, they probably even knew where he would be aiming. But again and again, they still failed to reach his curving shots. That I think speaks volumes about how difficult they were to deal with.
Pity it misses his domestic United years, presumably because of copyright. Every United game seemed to include at least one passage of play where Beckham and Gary Neville would bamboozle the left back before Becks swung it in for Sheringham to head home - except when he let Neville cross just to confuse the opposition further. Those crosses were as much his trademark as his free kicks and raking cross-field passed in my view.
I always enjoyed watching Beckham play nobody but nobody could bend it like Beckham he was a masterclass in ball control, great footballer and very much missed.
Beckham has displayed his talent everywhere over the world with success. IMO the best set piece player of all time. Bend it like Beckham isn’t a cute phrase but a true statement
