Could listen to Mr. Pierce all day!  What a wealth of knowledge. The last link to the old writers and the new. PLEASE write some books. 1000 pages is OK.  The Elmer Kieth, Skeeter Skelton , etc stories are priceless.  Longer videos are OK too. Tell your boys to not edit out for length. Us old guys are living the dream listening to Brian’s stories and knowledge

I just inherited my grandfathers 1980 25-06 M77. Thank you for the history lesson. I feel very lucky to have such an iconic and well built rifle.

Big fan of Ruger and I still learned a lot of new information from this.  Thank you Mr. Pearce.

I was just looking at a Ruger No1 in stainless steel. Beautiful gun

A man that knows his stuff ! Don't leave this world without writing a book my friend.

Great video! I really enjoyed the history of the M77 rifle. In 1973, at the age of 17, my mother asked me to pick out a rifle for my father as part of their 25th wedding anniversary gift. I picked out a Ruger M77 chambered in 7mm magnum. Ten years ago, I inherited the rifle. Two years ago, I inherited my older brother's Ruger M77, chambered in .30-06, made in 1975. I have shot deer with both rifles, dropping the bucks in their tracks! I love the Ruger M77 rifle. The only rifle my grandson likes shooting is his great-grandfather's Ruger M77; he can't wait until he owns it. At 70 years old myself, he won't have to wait too many more years.

I just inherited my father’s 1970s M77 in .220 swift. Got a factory box of vintage 80s ammo and his old reloads. Great video!
I’m going to have to shoot this one soon.

Back in August of 2019, coincidentally a couple days before my 19th birthday, my great-uncle gave me a Ruger M77 tang-safety in .243, he wanted $500 for it, but I gave him $600 to be more fair. It's a fantastic rifle that I used to take a few deer with, my great-uncle has since passed away from stomach cancer, so the rifle is not only a shooter, but a memento of him as well.

Thanks, Mr. Pearce for all the gun history and information. I could listen to you all day!

Great video I have the Ruger M 77 Hawkeye chambered into 300 win mag love it take it hunting everywhere.

My first Ruger was purchased in 1980 model 77 in .270! Great Rifle!

Brian is one of the most knowledgeable, nicest, honorable people in the industry. If he is talking guns and ammunition, you should listen. And his sons are top-notch.

Been a gun guy my whole life and love that I learn something from you guys. Keep it up!

Bought my first M77 in 1980, a .270 which I still own.  Since then, I’ve added a 7mm M77 Hawkeye and a 375 Ruger M77 Hawkeye.  Haven’t looked back on the purchase of any of those rifles.  I might add, I also own a Ruger Mini Thirty with open sights, which is devastating on coyotes.

Thank you for the post.  Our son won a M77 Hawkeye in 308 in a raffle and he loves it.

Love my Rugers

Great video Brian, you put a lot of information in a short video.
I remember when the original M77 came out, it was a big deal.
  Thank you.

I love it when you give history on guns. Beautiful Ruger collection! I have a M77 in 308 and it is so lightweight

I bought an old battered M77 tang safety bull barrel 243win forever ago. I was young and very inexperienced. It definitely had the floor plate dump problem. That worn out looking old gun may have been the most accurate rifle I ever had. It weighed a ton and I traded it off, but it really made an impression on me as well as that cartridge. Great video!

About 1982 I bought a 270 win. M77RS, and have enjoyed it ever since.  1" groups if I do my part.  I prefer the tang safety over the location of the 3 position safeties location. The 22-250 bull barrel M77R can shoot flies at 100 yards (if they don't fly off before I get my scope on them); it is my only 1-hole group rifle; I did glass bed the rifle, but that's all.  As far as the floor-plate movement, two small pieces of electrical tape took care of that; and I've never accidentally dumped the magazine.  The short-run .257 Roberts  with a medium weight 24" barrel M77ST my grandfather bought back about 1974 caused me to fall in love with Ruger M77's; those graceful iron sights were/are so beautiful.  I now own that rifle and think of grandpa every time I see it, shoot it.  I sure miss you, Lawrence, even after 40 years....you were one hell of a man, and a damned good shot (with anything).
