Speaking as a photographer I would say you would get alot of the best light conditions first thing in the morning, there are less people around and less distractions.

I chap coming at me with a crowbar convinced me quite quickly. Two weeks later the same place had been shut down in a police raid as a cannabis farm.
I feel like I had a very lucky escape.

I used to work for a large private estate (in England) with a lot of SSSI and other protected areas that attracted a lot of drone pilots. I would approach the pilots in a friendly manner and asked if they were aware they had taken off from private land. Some did know and were just chancing their luck, some didn't and apologised, occasionally a pilot would argue that it was public land and I had to point out it was only public access. If a pilot got shirty with me, I would stay polite and calm and advise them about the regulations for different sized drones. Most pilots were lovely though and we would discuss the regulations, make sure everyone understood each side and I would point out that it was possible to get permission from the estate in some circumstances. It was a busy place so the "no flying over crowds" rule often applied, especially in the summer. Our biggest concern was the wildlife, especially during nesting season as we had a lot of nesting birds and rare insects that could be disturbed. I think what was most annoying was how many said they "didn't see the no drone signs", which to me I found disrespectful. I personally have no problem with drones, but I do have a problem with disrespect and there are many pilots without any idea about the CAA regulations, and are even unaware they should have an Operators ID printed on the drone. Another great video Robert.
Looking forward to the Land reform video as although I know the basis of it it'll be great to have a much thorough understanding as to how it relates to flying in Scotland. I fly both Drones and Rc Gliders on Skye mainly and the drones attract little attention really as they're often hard for the unaware to spot at any distance. the gliders however are big (1m to 3m span) and much faster and much more visible. Usually most people who do spot them are fascinated rather than annoyed but there'll always be the one.

If there people about I always say,”I’m flying a small drone hope the noise doesn’t bother you.?” Everyone has been absolutely fine with it. Culzean castle from a near by beach perfect spot to fly with a spotter.

Great video - avoid confrontation, be calm - people are annoying, the world is full of people who think they understand the law.

I always say, be polite, don't be aggressive (even if they are annoying) explain calmly to them.

Wish I was in Scotland, you have more rights, good on you guys!

Had Police pasing by and stop near Barnwell Castle when i was flying drone. I i took off from Council road. They were cool just reminded me that Barnwell Castle is privet land, i explained to then that's why i;m on public/council road ( i was unpaved road leading to public walking path. They wished me good day and to be carful. First time interaction while flying went without argues. They did not even ask me if i have license or 3rd party liability insurance ( i do have both in my drone bag printed just in case )
