Often, our greatest adversaries in life are those gloomy, negative thoughts and feelings that dwell within us. They don't come from hell, but from our own histories, our traumas, and our memories. These inner demons generate two things in our souls: insecurity and shame; they fill us with anguish and prevent us from loving and fulfilling our calling. But the Bible speaks very clearly about how to respond to pain and suffering: we must refuse to allow the enemy to retrieve those rotten garments from the trash and clothe our lives with them again. We must exchange insecurity and fear for trust in God!
