Everything you said about this album isn’t really an unpopular opinion, at least within the Evanescence fandom. Most fans consider it their best album. Fallen is iconic and has their biggest hits, but it’s not their best. The general public puts Fallen on a pedestal because it’s the only album they’ve heard, and most people have never explored the band’s other work. Lacrymosa is truly a work of art. If you saw her performance of it on the Synthesis Live tour, you’d be even more impressed by Amy’s vocals.

Cool reaction. I love this album, also:
1. "Call me when you're sober" is about ending a relationship with an addicted partner. She wrote this song about her split with Shaun Morgan (Seether frontman)
2. "Lithium" is not about drug addiction, is more about a person with depression and bipolar disorder whos constantly with this mental fight about Sorrow (because thats the place she's known and familiar with) vs. Recovery (finally choosing let it go -last lines of the song-). It's a mood stabilizer used to treat bipolar disorder, not a drug of abuse.
3. "Snow white Queen" is also about an stalker Amy had at that time a real life terrible experience, the song is written in dual perspectives from the stalker and she as the victim ("Say you belong to me my know white Queen there's no way to run...") vs. ("I can't scape the twisted way you think of me...")
4. "Like You" is about her little sister "Bonnie" who died at age 3 when Amy was 6. "l hate me for breathing without u" "I long to be like you, sis." "Our love can see us through in  death".
5. "Your Star" was written during the fallen tour in Europe 2003, at that time she was feeling lonely, sad, of being so far away from home in such a big city as Lisbon, also the problems with one of the band members who even left the band mid tour.
6. "ATILF" is about her dedication to the band, the writing and composing, the fans, the hard work, and the music as the way to face inner demons and heal her pain.
7. And the last song is about her actual husband. Amu Lee finding peace and healthy love after going through painful and toxic past experiences.

I've lost it with the ghost 😂

Amy Lee!! 🖤

I remember rushing to the store on release day to buy this CD and I studied the booklet like there was a final exam coming up. The artwork and writing is on point! Lacrymosa rocks!

Amy was ahead of her time and helped paved the way for female rock artists in the U.S. (distinction cuz other countries already understood the assignment before the American music industry did.)

People are now starting to appreciate her more and more! The O.G. Ev fans consider this their favorite album.

The best album of Evanescence, Lacrymosa is one of my favorite songs. The synthesis (live) its great album too. The ghoust in this case is her sister dead, like you e your star is about this. And Snow White Queen is about someone stalking Amy, and how she's feel about this. (Your theory about the ghoust is so funny, i love this).

Cloud nine is my favorite in this one but lithium is verrrry verrrrry close behind

I funny how you tied it to a Ghost, That what almost the whole album is about. The meaning of Open Door, is connecting to the spirit world. Also if you listen closely, Amy's Voice makes the strange sound, like in the Hunted. That same sound is throughout the whole album. Also they have lots of demos an EPs, that are before Fallen. I've been a Ev fan for years, I grew up with her. Yes we Evanescence fans call ourself Ev fans or at least I do. "Cloud Nine" and "The Only One" is my favorite off this album, for Fallen it "Whisper".

Their sound evolved on The Open Door!

This Is the best album from this band. Most heavy and dark.
Lose control 🖤🤘🏻✨

I enjoyed your reaction a lot. Your lyrical interpretations were some I’d never heard before. Thanks for taking the time!

Favorite song on this album is Your Star. Favorite Evanescence song period is Understanding.

Is EVANESCENCE!

There’s always “hidden shit” in Amy’s lyrics.  I think the beautiful part of her music is that you can always adapt her music to your current situation. She’s one of my top 5 vocalists all time any genre. But there is no top five for being able to evoke emotions from your audience. She’s number 1 and there’s zero debate

Hahaha nothing si about drugs un their lyrics 😂
