In the first episode of the Keinaan, Go Back to Somalia documentary series, Keinaan travels to Mogadishu together with his cameraman, Hamsa. Mogadishu, filled with security measures, surprises both Keinaan and Hamsa, but Keinaan senses that there is underlying trauma at play.
The documentary series follows Keinaan and Hamsa's first trip to Somalia. Although the Ministry for Foreign Affairs advises against traveling there, they fulfill the wish of some Finns and head to their parents' home country.
Somalia, ravaged by civil war, is mostly remembered for pirates and bombings. However, it is no longer the same country that Keinaan learned to fear as a child – a hope for a better future has awakened in its people.
